Well... usually it should be drained out. But it's too expensive for that treatment. I would leave it like it is because the blood will drain itself.

Yes it is true BUT the aural hematoma is very painful to the dog and when the body absorbs the blood his ear will not look the same. it will look like a waded piece of paper. not smooth like the other ear. There is an underlining problem when the dog shakes his head that hard. most likely an ear infection pay closer attention to his ears keep them clean and dry. discuss this with your vet. I think you should go back to vet no matter what the cost. If you can't afford to take care of him properly you should not have any pets. Sorry if that sounds harsh but I'm just thinking about the pain your dog is feeling now like I said the hematoma is painful and so is an ear infection.

you should be conserned if your pet shakes its head and breaks blood vessles this could be a sign of an ear problem which should be checked out by a veterinarian the bruising should also be looked at the last time you saw the vet did he/she check for infections in the ear? and treat that to because the draining of the blood should not have cost $600 if your dog did shake and his ears hit somthing this could cause a problem with broken blood vessels because this is the second time this has happened you should look into the reasons for the problem not just treat the problem this could Cost more than the last one. try a new veterinarian for another opinion.

Sometimes they absorb, and sometimes they will not. Only a vet can tell. This is quite painful for your dog (my last dog went through this a couple of times). For your dog's sake please see the vet quickly so that an assessment can be made.

The body will absorb it. But, if it is that thick, the bleeding needs to be stopped first.

yes...back to the vet... it is an ear hematoma... my shepard got it once and cost about that to repair...it can only be surgically repaired per the vets office that I just spoke with... it tends to be more common in dogs whose ears flop...
