why the hell should they? if you wanna come here, do it the right way

Because they are not contributing to the administrative costs of issuing and monitoring those licenses. The legal citizens who are paying into the effected budgets are forced to bear the financial burden of offering a service to a non-citizen.

The same is true on a much larger scale with giving free medical services to illegals. Nobody would argue that a sick or hurt person should have to go without medical attention, but why shouldn't they have to pay for it themselves?

Well, if they're undocumented ... how do we know who they are? Who do we issue the license to? Hello ..my name is Alexander, I'm from Outer Space, and I want a driver's license ... No, I can't prove I am who I say I am, but I WANT A DRIVERS LICENSE! OK ... if that's what you want ... :)

I do not use that term. I use the proper and correct term, ILLEGAL! They are breaking the law to be here and as such neither deserve a driver's license or anything else. They are nothing but a bunch of criminals and deserving nothing but to be booted out

DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS

ENGLISH ONLY IN AMERICA

its amazing that the government should pick and choose which laws they are going to enforce. what part of illegal don't people understand? they shouldn't worry, this won't even be an issue after the elections. we will never hear another word about it. we will continue to close our eyes because that's what America does. although, let there be a disaster and see how much they want us to step up and be AMERICANS

Outside of the illegal aspects there is substancial evidence that (in many parts of the USA) a driver's lic. is an acceptable enought form of ID that one could actually register/vote in a US election.
So figure it out. Can't be allowed. No way. No how!
It's bad enough for them to be here the way they are. Can you imagine how it would be if they could vote too!?
Some believe that there are many who actually are voting. (I am not one of them who believes this, however.)

"Undocumented people" is a nice way of saying CRIMINAL ALIENS!!

Why should they have anything, other than a swift trip to jail, and then deportation?

They are criminals. We do not need them in the USA.

I think they should have some sort of ID and it should be stamped "ILLEGAL". That way they can open bank accounts, and have some legal standing. They should not be allowed to drive a car, vote, or work for any municipalities.

Because they're here illegally. If it's illegal for them to be here anyways, why provide them with documentation making it legal for them to drive a vehicle here?

THIS IS WHY!!
Sen. Jim Bryson (R-Franklin) Friday called on Gov. Bredesen to drop his opposition to a policy that would allow state law enforcement to hand over to federal authorities illegal immigrants charged with criminal acts. The move comes after a Mt. Juliet couple was killed in an auto accident by an illegal immigrant who has been arrested 14 times previously.

“This is a tragedy for the family and it could have been prevented,” said Sen. Bryson. “It is common sense that state law should require illegal immigrants who commit crimes be immediately turned over to federal authorities. In addition, it is incumbent upon federal officials to respond when they are contacted by state law enforcement.”

Two months ago the state Senate passed legislation that would have allowed state law enforcement to turn over to federal authorities illegal immigrants who commit crimes. Gov. Bredesen vigorously opposed Senate Bill 2426 and spoke out several times against it.

“I hope the Governor will now rethink his position on this issue,” said Sen. Bryson. “I supported the legislation – which received not a single no vote in the state senate - so we could prevent tragedies like this. It is a Governor’s job to lead, not oppose common sense solutions supported by the elected representatives of the people.”

Gustavo Reyes Garcia, 28, is charged with vehicular homicide in the deaths of a Mt. Juliet couple nine days ago. He was fleeing from police at the time. It is his 15th arrest on a variety of charges.

Dustin Inman:
Dustin Inman is one of the un-counted thousands of Americans who have needlessly lost their lives because government in America refuses to secure American borders or enforce American immigration and employment laws.

Dustin Inman was a sixteen-year-old American boy killed by an illegal alien in a senseless traffic collision on Father's Day weekend five years ago.

He was on his way to a weekend of fishing in the North Georgia mountains with his parents.

Despite being in the United States illegally, the driver of the car that killed Dustin, Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez, was able to obtain a valid North Carolina driver's license using his Mexican birth certificate and a Mexican Matricula Consular ID card.

On June 16, 2000, a speeding vehicle driven by Harrell-Gonzalez hurtled into the rear of the Inman family's car while it was stopped at a red light in Ellijay, Georgia - killing Dustin and knocking unconscious Kathy and Billy Inman - Dustin's parents.

When she regained consciousness after five weeks in a coma, Kathy learned of the death of her son and that because of spinal injuries received in the wreck that killed him, she would spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.

Because of their injuries in the wreck, Kathy and Billy were not able to attend their only son's funeral.

Billy Inman will tell you that he blames the government sworn to protect him and his family for his son’s death more than he blames the illegal alien who killed him.

The Inman's have only a few school photos, family snapshots and a video made at Dustin's funeral by which to remember their son.

America's un-secured borders and illegal immigration have changed their lives forever. It can happen to any one of us.

Billy Inman will tell you that Dustin was a "good kid" and that he misses his "hunting buddy" everyday. "I loved Dustin," says Billy often. He talks about Dustin having been born with a cleft palate, and getting him the surgery to get his son "all fixed up".

He says that he will not rest until he brings his son’s killer to justice.

He will also tell you that he "paid no attention to politics" and had never voted before he lost his son to America’s intentionally un-secured borders.

"The system really let me down," says Billy Inman.

In his search for a better life, he now votes in every election.

Charged and indicted in the death of Dustin Inman, Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez is a fugitive after escaping from local police when taken to a local hospital after the crash.

Update: Illegal alien charged in death of Dustin apprehended!
