Well, history tells us that they like to band together to kill others. But then they tend to get bored when there's no one left to kill, so they turn on each other and kill each other!
I think they're all too confused to worship together! Bloodthirsty fanatics!

God put the Levite priests in charge, and it worked for a long time. Then the Levite priests got lazy and started putting Deacons and other Lay people in charge of leading the church services. These people argued amongst themselves and split off from the main church. That is why the Christians have so many denominations. Believers should fellowship together, but after reading and studying my Bible, I would not be led by a false teacher. My eternal soul is at stake.

Generally speaking, most denominations believe that their particular denomination is the only one that is practicing Christianity correctly. Hence, why there are divisions to begin with. They may diverge over clerical or social issues such as confession, baptism or role of women. Sometimes differences are theologically based such as Biblical interpretation, communion of the saints, or salvation itself. For instance, in Catholicism if you're not Catholic you can't even take communion. How would this be rectified if they merged with Baptists? To many Baptists, Catholics are a cult that places to much veneration on Mary. The views between many denominations are too extreme to form any reconcilliation--plus reconcilliation would mean compromise for appeasement, compromising ones beliefs for the unity of the faith to many means selling out on their faith. Not going to happen.

Ideally, yes. Images of "heaven" in Revelation describe people of every nation/ethnicity worshiping God together. However in this life we are all tainted by prejudices, biases, convinced that "our way is the only right way..." Christians as well as others. Are you surprised by this? Knowing the ideal, the best we can do is strive to meet it with God's help.

I believe it is because nobody can agree on how you are supposed to "worship" God. If people Knew that it does not matter how just as long as you are good and do good things. It is not for anyone to Tell ME what is good, that is up to God. That is why people have a conscious.

Sure. But doctrinal differences do divide. If you don't believe Jesus is God, then we have a problem. hehe. Just to give an example.

it's not uncommon for different denominations to worship together on certain occasions, but that's mostly protestant with protestant. i haven't been to a service where protestant and catholics worship together. i think they should. it makes sense to me.
