they could be in plain sight
you just ignore them because you think they are taken and when they say hi to you, you think they are looking for some side action when they have no one to begin with,
but you never learn that because you are convinced you are right about them and never bother to talk to them just a little bit to see if they are even seeing anyone
thats why you see couples that consist of a hottie and an average looking person, because the average person talked to the hottie when other hotties would not.....
