Get ready it is all soon to start and it will be quick... soon he will be able to hold that toy and his mouth is usually the first and favorite place for anything to go..
Kids develop differently and boys are usually slower then girls but between now and 8 months the sitting up on own and crawling will start then watch out not long after that he will pull up on things and walk...
my daughter, now 8 , was quick with everything from walking at 9 months, crawled after walking, to being potty trained at 17 months, my boys were different my four year old walked at 10 months and my 2 year old didn't until he was 13 months..
but the joy of experiencing all the first times with him is priceless..

reaches with a good aim
transfers objects from hand to hand

mentally:

shows interest in colors
pushes away disliked actions (wiping nose)
displays expression of decision-making

language:

babbles (ba-ba)
tries to mimic sounds

social:

turns head toward speaker

he should start doing all of the above within the next two months. If he doesn't then you should talk with your doctor and if needs therapy they will be able to recommend him. Never hurts to get a good start is what I believe.

relax dad. everything will come in time. but, ya know, iwas totally amazed the day my daughter rolled over. after that once i had to show everyone. for my son, it was the first time he laughed. simply picked up a plastic donut with my toe, we both laughed and then he did it. it'll come, relax and enjoy.

By five months he should be playing bach and paying the most complex among the nintendo games....

Relax lady, let him grow at his own pace...enjoy it while it lasts...

i have no idea what you said in the first part. get a parenting book. they help out. and all babies do things at their own pace.

the truth is that kids do things when they're darn well good and ready, not a second before. They're all different.
