There are 5 people in a mansion on a Sunday Morning. There's the mother, father, son, maid, and the butler. The father was killed by one of the people in the house (he didn't kill himself). The mother said : "I was by the pool this morning". The butler said: "I was cleaning up the mess". The son said: "I was playing video games in my room this morning". And the maid said: " I went to go get the mail this morning". Who killed the father??? This is a little tricky, but if you pay attention you might be able to solve this mystery!!!

Without that caveat that the father didn't kill himself, I'd guess the father did kill himself because you left out "other" in sentence three (so it would have read "one of the OTHER people"). So let's try a little logic here:

The mother said she was by the pool this morning.

The butler said he was cleaning up the mess.

The son said he was playing video games in his room this morning.

The maid said she went to get the mail this morning.

Everybody except the butler said where they were or what they were doing THIS MORNING. Without saying when the father was killed (the riddle only says there are 5 people in a mansion on a Sunday morning), it comes across that the mother did it because she was by the pool (ostensibly outside the mansion; outside of Olympic pools, how many private indoor ones do you know?), and the butler at most was an accessory -- he never says what mess he was cleaning up.

Sounds good to me, anyway.

I say the maid killed him in conspiracy with the butler... why? well the maid obviously lied about retrieving the mail being there is no mail on Sundays and the butler flat out admits to cleaning up "the mess"

It is either the butler or the maid. The butler said 'i was cleaning up the mess' that could have a double meaning- as in cleaning up the mess the dead body maid.

The maid could also have killed him. There is no mail on Sunday. But considering the SUNDAY TIMES, the butler is more suspectable than her.

I think the mother killed the father and the butler cleaned up the mess that she made drowning her husband. Just because the mail is not delivered on Sunday's does not mean that she didn't go to the post office to pick up the mail that was left from Saturday.

I think that it was the maid and the butler both. There is no mail on Sunday, so she couldn't be getting the mail, but she is female, which one assumes that she is little, and the butler would help her clean up the mess of the crime.
