I don't really think either is/should be acceptable! However if I had to choose Id say...
It all depends on whether it the male or female cheating/hitting. If it's the female than I'd say that cheating is worse then hitting.
The reason...
Females(in general) are much more emotionally involving. So if they cheated, it's likely to be due to spending time, getting to know someone and falling in love.
How ever, if it is the male, hitting is worse.
The reason...
Because men (again, in general), think with lust, not with their heart, so they have a one night fling, or a long term fling, but it doesn't actually mean anything! Men are men and that's how they are designed.
I know some (one in particular) may read this and think i am being sexist and harsh on the male of the species, however I DID say it was a generalisation. I know not all women are as above and I KNOW not all men are as above, it's just my overall opinion of how the different sexes are designed to be.

The hitting is by far the worst. Cheating doesn't leave scares or bursing.
Hitting can cause u to go to jail, and it can be damaging,
the only damage and scares cheating leaves it the emotions of being inscure.
Being hit can cause a person to not want to be around others because ur afraid
Being cheated on can cause u not to trust ur next mate
Being hit can cause u to withdraw
So being hit hurts a lot more then being cheated on

There is no justifying staying with a partner that hits out with his fists- unfortunately when fists fly not only are you left with bruises and broken bones but also with the emotional scars and the damage that such actions do to your self-estemm and self-worth. Cheating is for cowards who want the comfort of a relationship but still want to try something new. If the relationship is worth saving and you are looking at the reasons for cheating realistically as well as feeling able to forgive then this is the one that can possibly be resolves together but you only ever forgive one cheat- after that you are just being a mug and selling yourself short.

Both are horrible and should never be done, but being hit is worse. Cheating can be a way of revenge or something, but hitting is just pure anger and hate. Both are wrong, but hitting is never fixable and should NEVER be done.

Both are pretty bad, but I think I could forgive a whole lot quicker for cheating on me than for hitting me. God help the man that decides he is going to put his hands on me. I have 2 fathers-my biological and my heavenly father-thats plenty.

Without a doubt being hit. The reason is that striking another person maliciously is an assault, a criminal offence.
Being unfaithful, in the Western world at least, is not a offence yet.

There's a way back from affairs, because there's often a reason for such actions that can be talked about between the couple, with help if necessary.
Domestic violence is harder work. If one of the two is capable of that, it's pretty serious.
