I nor you can give an opinion on what is going on in Iraq. If I were there seeing for myself I would believe what I see, not from the eyes of a camera from the media who are like rubbers bands that are only stretched in one direction. What they want to see that makes little news look like big news.
Best way to find out anything real these days is to don a uniform and go look for yourself.

History will ultimately prove whether we were right or wrong in going to war in Iraq. However in the present light, I fail to understand how any knowledgeable person could have made any other decision. If we are going to fight a global war on radical Islamic terrorism, Iraq has to be changed.
We must change the mind-set of the Middle East or be prepared to kill a whole generation of young Islamic radicals. The terrorists, and the dysfunctional governments which support them, cannot tolerate the idea of a democracy in the Middle East. One has only to count the number of existing democracies in that region to understand how destabilizing a democratic Iraq will be, and you have only to look at Libya, Pakistan, and Lebanon to see what will result.
When we defeated the Taliban in Afghanistan in record time, the next move was obvious to any student of strategy, or even to a neophyte who had read and comprehended basic texts on strategy, such as Sun Tzu’s “Art of War”. It works like this, “You figure out your opponent’s possible next moves, and you eliminate his options”. In this case, retiring to a sanctuary to regroup was high on the list of possible options. And where might such a redoubt be? Iraq sort of comes to mind. Where did al Zarqawi retreat when wounded in Afghanistan? The fact that Iraq had to go was a pretty obvious choice. You do not fight the war on terror without taking out Iraq.
The war in Iraq is the epitome of the War on Terrorism. We could not afford to allow a government of that nature, in that proximity, to exist and be a safe haven for Islamic radicals. It is one thing to plan and execute war strategies with the aid and support of an entire country; it is quite another to do that from a cave. No Afghanistan, no foundation; no Iraq, no foundation and no safe haven for terrorists.
Iraq is the front line of the War on Terrorism, and we are winning that war. If you do not think so, think about the number of successful attacks on the U.S. since Sept. 11, 2001. Now, on September 12, 2001, what would have been the betting odds of our not being successfully attacked again within the next four years? Think about how intensely the terrorists are fighting to destabilize Iraq, because they know if they lose in Iraq, they will lose the whole global war. Think what Saddam might be doing today if we had not taken him out. What would be happening in a Saddam controlled Iraq of today?
Some may still say that we should not have done anything about Iraq, but those are probably the same people who said on Sept. 12, 2001, "Why didn't we do something on Sept. 10?" Well guess what, everybody? Today is Sept. 10, and every day will continue to be, until we win this global war.

I believe terrorist knocked down a couple buildings. I believe it was because we didn't take the initiative. The war in Iraq is horrible, but it is necessary. I don't give two shits about the oil, the gas, or the Iraqi people. I do however hate it when you have the power to do something good for an oppressed people but you instead sit back and watch a brutal petty dictator massacare the people he rules over. If our country were twice the size it is, I would like to see them do something about some the the African atrocities taking place down there. We should focus on alternative fuels with speed and determination and let the price of fuel bottom out and see how funny those archaic mid-east countries like that.

The war in Iraq was need to stall further attacks on the United States. People realize that Sadaam was hiding billions of dollars that we have already found. What was the money for? The money was to further terriosm. Syria is very active with its porous border to a nation with the capabilities of further terriosm. The Liberals try to make you think everything is wrong but they all voted and seen the same intel as the President.Conservitives try to make the war of helping the USA. Either way we are there fighting to save all of us and must stand behind the decisions of the ones we vote for. Enough of the conspiracy and hoaxes and all the other things that modernazation has brought to us. Like being able to hear what people think, and say from around the world.

I believe that we are spending way too much money on helping to rebuild Iraq while our own country is suffering with our own economic issues. Our government is allowing companies to move to other countries and still import into the U.S. I say if these businesses want to move that's there option, however they should not be allowed to import back in to this country. Everyone seems to be standing by while more and more people lose their jobs, retirement that they worked so hard to get and now insurance. May the president don't care because he is wealthy and now that his dad is getting up there in age now he wants to imposes a tax break on inheritance, doesn't the rich get enough breaks they have more money than most and yet continue to find ways of screwing the rest of us over and just keep getting richer while everyone else struggles to keep their head above water. It's time to stop concentrating on Iraq and start concentrating on our own country. Iraq doesn't want us there anyway, why continue to see our death tiles rise. I believe that Iraq hates the U.S. and putting our soldiers at risk is a losing battle. There will always be terrorism and maybe the answer is to stop interfering in other countries issues and concentrate on the ones right here in front of them.

I think this is a war that has a lot more to do with terrorists than Iraq. Al-Zarqawi was a terrorist from Jordan, anyone get it? Would people prefer the fighting to be on the streets of NY or Cali How about Washington DC? After all the al-quadia hate this country because of christianty. They hate other countries for paganism. So for all of those that cry the blues just stop and THINK!

I think that it is ridiculous. These people have been fighting since the world began and they are never going to stop. In my opinion the only way to stop the fighting and stop the terrorism is to bring everyone home and then send in some bombers and turn the middle east into a parking lot. I know some people say "but what about the innocent children?", I feel bad for them but they are taught to hate us from the time they are born. Enough is enough!

It was a mistake, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, there were no WMDs, Iraq at no time posed any "clear and immenent threat" to the U.S., all of which were known at the time. Worse, the only military objective we had, the overthrow of Saddam and his regime, we accomplished in short order, leaving us with nothing for the military to actually do except play target, which, sadly, they are doing to great effect. I spent 20 years in the US Military, from the end of the Nam era through the end of Desert Storm, my Father served in WW2 and Korea, my Grandfather served in WW1, and my Daughter is on active duty in the Navy now. What we are seeing in Iraq is the inevitable result of having people with no military training or experience deciding how to use the military. Yes, the military is, and should be, subordinate to civilian authority, but when the civilian authority lacks any military knowledge or experience, as ours does, it is incumbent on them to get the best possible advice and pay attention to it.

We need to finish the job, whether or not we were "duped" as some put it (I don't happen to think so, it wasn't bad cous-cous that killed Kurdish women and children in the streets outside their homes). We've gotten rid of a genocidal dictator, we've all but stopped terrorist activity in Afghanistan. Is it an ugly situation? Of course, "War is Hell". People die, get maimed, get wounded; some are innocent by-standers. But if it means that some maniac wearing a C4 vest won't get to climb on a bus full of school children and splatter them over the city, then I'm all for it.

War - no one likes war. I believe if you go to war you go to fight and win - gloves off, no hands tied - there is no innocence in war. President Bush is saving all of our ***'s right now whether you like it or not. I wear the uniform and I support the war in Iraq and the war on terroism. What I can't understand is the liberal politicians and the liberal media constantly undermining all we have done and do there and our President.
- "jamesmom" - who are you, cindy sheehan wanna be? By looking at your 360 pg and what your watch on tv I can see why you make a dumbass comment like that. Get a grip and get informed - the only lies are what you believe are the truths!
