The Old Testament (Torah)...in its earliest books is a reproduction of The Epic of Gilgamesh ...in fact Hebrew itself is a derivative of Cuneiform(Chaldean) ...that the Hebrews developed(adopted) both this mythos and writing during a period of captivity is archaeologically and historically plain...
That species "adapt" is also plain ... the gap in brain capacities of varied hominids still offers some varied mysteries that need further study and delving ...
Yet the ongoing "Creationism" of William Jennings Bryant seems to perpetuate also by another biological law: ..that inbreeding will yield faulty intelligence...

Who said the Holy Bible was fiction?
It is my belief that as stories are told from one person to another and from generation to generation, there is usually a bit of a distortion to the actual facts of the story when it was really original.
To be totally fair to both arguments, I believe there is SOME truth to the theory of evolution, but it cannot exist entirely on its own. The theory must go hand in hand with the Bible and together they mix and come together for a more accurate account of what actually happened.
There is the missing link. If you have any education at all, you must have heard about the missing link. It is a theory of mine that the missing link is when God intervened and made Adam and Eve.
Sure, some will dispute that, but....what other REASONABLE explanation can anyone give for the missing link?
None of us knows for sure what happened. All we have is what we want to believe and the trust that what we read in the Bible is true and accurate. We must believe what we feel best with.
Remember though...even in today's world, there are many instances where "something is lost in the translation" and so it was (I am sure) when the original text of the Bible was translated again and again.

The theory of Evolution is certainly the greater fiction - the fact is that there is no way that something as complex as the eye could have just evolved from a single cell organism. Scientists have determined that it would require a computer the size of a room to do what the eye can do (despite our advanced technology).
The Bible, on the other hand, is being proved true all the time. For instance, the walls of Jericho didn't crumble, they literally slid into the ground and have been found intact below the remains of the city.

Well, what makes more logical sense? A mythical being floating around in space waved his magical hands, and *poof*, Earth and ALL the trillions of stars were created. Then, out of thin air, he created a male human, and from that male human's RIB, created a female human...from a damn rib! And that's not crazy, what's crazy is MILLIONS of otherwise well-educated people actually believe this crap!!! Kinda sounds like a story a young child would make up. The power of mass brainwashing is apparently extremely effective.
Now, you can believe that, or, the logical answer. Just accept that the ONLY unknown in science is the "how's" and "why's" of the exact beginning of the universe. Everything else is pretty much based on fact, and due to modern science can pretty much be traced back to almost the very beginning of the universe. Evolution is a proven FACT.
And I love when people ask, "Well, if we came from apes, why are there still apes?" lol! Monkeys and apes are just very close to us on the evolutionary chain - we didn't evolve DIRECTLY from them, we merely resembled them because we were very hairy and primitive in those days. You could call us evolutionary cousins, if you will.
I think the main problem is, 99% of the population lacks the mental capacity to understand how long a billion years is... and how over that IMMENSELY VAST period of time, a deer, or a horse could easily evolve from a floating organism in the sea, exactly the same way as any other living thing evolved, including ourselves.
I guess it's just easier on the average (dumb/limited) human brain to accept such a ridiculous story, as opposed to a sound and logical scientific explanation. They'd rather believe in a well known fable, as opposed to science, evidence, fact, and physics.
Please stop kidding yourselves people - there is no "God". We evolved!

The nature of science is such that evolution is considered a theory. That doesn't mean that micro evolution has not been observed in many instances by scientists. Just more recently there are studies on how overfishing promotes smaller fish (because you are selecting the largest from the system, therefore pushing the population toward smaller fish). The whole natural selection process is very common sense on a small scale.
IE- If you believe that you got your eye color & your hair color from your parents, then you must believe in some kind of inheritence (genetic or otherwise).
If you don't believe in genes, then don't take any medicine. The whole reason that animal testing works (whether you support it or not) is because animals share many genes with us. Therefore their bodies react similarly in many cases.
P.S.- Darwin was a very religious man while writing On Origin of Species and never actually discussed how the first species or animal appeared. His point was that species adapted and changed (populations diverge, etc.) according to the environment... therefore creating new species (meaning they couldn't reproduce with the other "former" species).

The bible. Evolution can be proved with science. Science, for those that don't know, is what keeps the world moving forward instead of being stuck in one place. The bible does not move the world forward, it is rooted in the past and does not embrace those ideas that have improved the world for the better. It was written from ideas, not facts, and therefore would be the greater fiction.

You should study your opinion out more clearly before you go rattling it off like a tinkling cymbal or a sounding brass!. The Bible has been tried and tried again by men and women down through the ages and don't you know that if they could of proven this book to be false they would of done away with it already! I suggest you read the book the testimony of the evangelist by Simon Greenleaf perhaps the best known teacher of jurisprudence. He couldn't disapprove the bible as a matter of fact he was converted while trying to disapprove the Bible.

There's no actual way to convince people of this, but I believe that the theory of evolution is a little too far-fetched. Some may take the bible as too out there, though. But both beliefs have the same consistancy of evidence. You can either take it or leave it.

The theory of evolution is not fiction. There's a wealth of evidence to prove that animals "evolve" to adapt to changes in their invironment, occasionally in only one generation. Where man came from is the mystery. No missing link has ever been found to confirm we decended from apes. Which brigns us to the Bible. The idea of Adam and Eve conflicts with Darwin's theory, but then, it conflicts with history in general. Also, the Bible was written by mortal men, some of whom are unidentified, all of whom were supposedly inspired by God. I don't know if it's fiction. but a lot of is parable. I happen to believe in it. What you believe is up to you.

That is a hard question and it depends what religion you are and what you believe in. In my case, I believe in both. I don't believe everything in the Bible because I believe more in science. but in the Bible I do believe in the history of mankind and the stories and I do believe that God created the world and everything in it. I believe in Galileo Galilei's quote during the Scientific Revolution in which people were questioning the Bible and in which some scientists made new discoveries, like Copernicus that the sun was the center of the universe and not the world. Anyways, the scientists still believed in the Bible but they believed in science too and Galileo Galilei said: "The Bible says how to go to heaven, but not how heaven goes." This emans that you can believe in the Bible because God is real but you cannot trust it in order to know about the universe and other scientific things.

The Holy Bible is true and evolution is fake. And why because God created the Earth and Adam and Eve never evolved from monkeys.
