In any case, you're obviously desperate to get into the U.S. or Canada ... just a word of warning ... Canada is way stricter than the U.S. on legal immigration ... you get points for having relatives there ... and extra points if you speak French ... you stand a good chance if you qualify in one of the work categories they specify on their web sites ... nursing is one, caring for elderly another if I remember correctly .... you really DO have to check on the net or contact the Canadian Embassy ...

You start out with an application for permanent residency, which after a certain period of time you can apply for canadian citizenship. depending on how you are applying to get into canada depends on how long it takes. Some countries need visas to enter the country, depends on where you are from.
Check out www.cic.gc.ca that will give you all the information you need from types of applications, the forms, fees, documents needed, and length of time it takes.

Canada is much easier to immigrate to than the US. They don't require a visa from many more countries than the US does, which cuts the wait time to enter the country considerably.
