It is common in some European countries to fast for that long - usually on juice, not just water - (this is done more for health than weight loss)... BUT the thing you have to realize is that when you do not eat for such a long period of time, your metabolism will slow considerably and that once you begin to eat again you may gain the weight back very quickly - and possibly do permanent harm to your metabolism. In addition - you will have very little energy during the fast and will probably have other ill-effects like a lack of concentration that can make life difficult and even dangerous (for example, when driving)...

There are many effective ways to lose weight out there - many of them far better than fasting. Also, I don't know how much you need to lose, but things like fasting to lost weight can be dangerous psychologically too - especially if you are predisposed to an eating disorder already. Be careful! You're much better off to just eat healthfully and take a few longs walks each week.

Good luck!

Yes, because most water doesn't give you all the nutrient that your body needs to maintain it. I hate to sound like a doctor when I say this but proper diet and exercise are the best way to lose weight. You might also want to eat smaller portion of meals...you'd be surprised how much people over eat and don't even know it. Just read some of the things you eat and see how much is in a serving. This requires some reading so a lot of people don't do it.

A definite YES - far too dangerous!! I can promise you one thing in regard to weight loss--not eating will not cause you to lose weight. [Naturally, over a very long period with not eating you will lose weight, BUT you will die]. When you stop eating, your body goes into "starvation" mode, and you cease to lose any weight. You MUST eat a good balanced diet in order for your body to burn calories and lose weight. You will help this a great deal if you walk [briskly] 20 minutes every day. Slowly, but surely and most importantly, you will permanently, lose the weight and look and feel much better.

Much too dangerous. You need to eat a healthy diet and drink 8 glasses of water a day. You will end up dead or in a hospital without food.

Yes. Too dangerous, unless you checked into a hospital after 3 days.

You need nutrients, and water has none of them, except maybe potassium. It's definately one of the worst diets. If you want to do something like that, go to a wholistic practitioner, and get instructions on how to do a cleanse. You get all your nutrients, and get to clean out your body. It's normally about a week, but you could repeat it for a month and still be healthy.

Uh, yeah! No vitamins, minerals or electrolytes...try doing a fast for 1 week, lots of health food stores carry books on this and it would be alot more healthy!

Happy weight loss!

i knew sum1 who tried to do that, he got sick and the day that he did eat, he ended up pigging out pretty bad, just diet and exercise if you want to lose weight. If you eat grapefruits or drink grapefruit juice with your meals it will help to lose weight a little faster.
