When I am in a PC to PC skype call I want to play a MP3 for the person I am talking to. (Basically mix the my mic input with the song so they can hear both...)

Messing with the volume control sliders in XP do not seem to help. Do I need additional software to do this? There must be something out there that will mix the mic input with other audio sources. Thanks for the help!!

Skype has some limitations. It cannot play mp3 concurrently while you use the mic to chat with the person. Hence, one crude way to play music while chatting is to put the mic near to your music speakers or sound system. That way, you can both chat and listen to music at the same time. The music quality the other party is hearing will suffer due to this kind of setup.

If you don't mind not being able to talk during it (or listening to the MP3), and if you use a microphone with a miniplug (the kind headphones use), connect your computer's sound out to the jack your microphone uses.

Hi.

There is free and low cost software that allows you to do this. Please visit the Skype (www.skype.com) forums and search for 'music'

Try MP3... we have tested www.prettymay.net and it works great.
