people have been distilling alcohol for sure since 6000 yrs ago. (Babylonia's where they found the evidence.) but people have been drinking fermented fruit or honey beverages since the beginning of time. lots of animals eat rotten fruit to get drunk.

alcohol comes from all different areas of the world
rum from the carribean cuba jamaica etc
vodka from N Europe and N America
it came to america when the settlers came spanish english french all brought alcohol to the new world and natives
but most idigenous indians have some sort of fire water that the derive from plants and fruits wheat insects whatever to ease pain or relax with or to get high
prohibition began January 16, 1920
lasted until 1933
