I posted two questions about a real situation that I had yesterday and in one the atheists were obligating me to stop the man from electrocuting himself and in the other they changed 180 and said don't tell them when they are going to hell...I tried to warn the man and he wouldn't listen, but I did my duty. I also say that I have a similar duty to warn the atheist, not beat him over the head, but warn him. What do you say.
Is this inconsistant or not??

Yes but, the only thing atheists have to be consistent about is what they have in common: Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods. They don't have to be and I don't expect them to be consistent about anything outside of that.

Hey there - Atheists have a tough time being consistent in their thought pattern because they do not have a stable foundation for their belief system.

What happens is some atheists take portions of God's word and think it comes from the world. Get this, "You have to love me because God says so!" Partially true, God does love everyone because He made ALL of us. But, where people get it wrong is that we do not and cannot love their sins because that will drag christians down to their level.

Okay, in answering your questions, suicide is not a SIN. It is a slap in the face to God and He does not like it. The suicidal person will be questioned by God if that act is done.

What has to happen, is that this person with you must go to a counselor and talk about the issues in that persons life. I would also reinforce in their lives about how incredibly perfect they are in God's eyes.

They are so incredible that they have a contribution in society. They provide someone with something so incredible that it cannot be duplicated in a billion years.

Think about it this way, what if this person makes you laugh and brings joy to 100 people. Don't you think he will be missed? Just tell this person whatever they can do, nobody can do it any better or uniquely as this person.

I'm an agnostic I don't believe in the Christian version of Hell. But I guess using that situation as similar thing like warning people they will go to Hell if they don't believe and people don't listen and stuff. I guess if u believe in such a place u can warn people. But it doesn't work for a lot of people coz they just don't believe it. Those guys on working on the electric thingy were just being stupid but the proof of there situation was there like if they looked they could probably see that wire wasn't safe. But I thing is I can't force my self to have faith and believe. Also if I became a Christian just coz I was scared of Hell wouldn't that be a bit fake like marrying an old bloke for his money. It doesn't seem right to me. I think I should be religious coz I believe and have faith but I find it difficult to believe and the Christian religion doesn't make sense to me. U can warn them but they need to have faith in order to believe. I find it hard to believe that kind hearted person would go to such a horrible place for not believing. if this Christian version of Hell exists there's gonna be a lot of people that don't deserve to go there.

Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense I typed this very quickly and I'm watching the football at the same time. I'll edit this later.

Warning an atheist is pointless. Your warning only works on people who have the same faith as you. I don't like being 'warned' about how I"m going to hell by someone who clearly doesn't know me, and makes judgements on me based on their religious principals. It would be the same as if I said "You are going to fry in the giant pan of atheism when you die because you were fooled into believing in God. I just thought I should warn you." Kinda pisses you off when that comes at you out of the blue. Oh by the way, the only way to not fry in the pan is to stop believing in God. It's required. Or else you fry.

You assume there is some real threat of danger. What if you saw someone messing with a transformer and you started giving him all kinds of warnings about handling electrical equipment and all kinds of other crap and then when his is finished you find out that there was no electricity and it wasn't even dangerous.

Would that make you feel silly for making such a fuss or would you say it is better to be safe than sorry.

i think a better question is can people be consistent? If I asked two ..say..gardeners a question and got opposite answers, i would not think it is because "gardeners" are inconsistent. I would jus tthink those two people are different. Christians are no more consistent than anyone else. Mormons, catholics, Seventh Day Adventists, Anglicans and Eastern Orthodox all refer to themselves as Christians yet their beliefs vary extremely. even among similar branches of christianity consistency varies. Their is a huge rift now within the American Anglican church because of contreversies over appointing gay bishops.

You can warn the man with the electrical issue because you know for a FACT that electricity can kill someone. You have no right to do the same with atheists however because the aspects of hell being a reality is simply your OPINION. There is no evidence to support your claim. Good day, sir.

Atheism is not like Christianity, where you have a set of rules that you have to live by. It's a question of what you personally see as right, wrong, or indifferent. Therefore, it is not inconsistent, it's just two opinions from two people who happen to disagree on that subject.

Atheist's do not have a consistant Dogma. There is no church for us, there is no one to interpret and teach us to be non believers. We all tend to think for ourselves, which is the entire point to being an Atheist. Check out the questions about suicide and you'll see the Christians tend to do the same thing.

Atheism and playing mind games are two different things. Any group that plays what ifs or life or death with a person, is not into it for anything more than morbid entertainment.

No religion is totally consistent. Remember, Jesus was hungry and it was not time for figs, so her 'cursed' the tree, and it died. So, for you Christians out there, even he wasn't totally consist ant

well, for one thing, you shouldn't assume anyone to be an atheist or believer in Yahoo Q&A
for another, you shouldn't bother people while they are at work. Some work needs concentration, and you should realize that your Bible talk stirrs up emotions in some people. That is very distracting. You can really kill someone with that.
