Religeon has absolutely affected everyone on this earth somehow. Take note that some laws are based on gods views and they are still in affect right now all over the world. There is mention of god on money. In God we trust.
The bible was translated so many times that words can have more than one meaning, thats where things get ugly and bible bashing can occur.
Christians dont think like that at all, they just believe it, plain and simple. Like the way alcoholics believe AA, until something shakes up their beliefs things stay the same. Fear or being judged,of being wrong (hell also means grave in Latin- SHEOL)can send you into a panic that you may be outcast from Gods protection or gifts (heaven, afterlife, etc)

Actually, many devout Christians have studied a lot of different beliefs and studied a great deal about the world and also spent much time in fasting and prayer to gain their faith.
I read a quote once where an expectant mother asked her obstetrician if she believed in God and the response was:
"I deliver babies into the world every day. Of course I do."
Do you know how hard med school is? Do you think the OB was stupid and lazy?

Let me answer a question with a question. Do you enjoy questioning God and His reasons? Think of this, if you constantly question God, He takes His hands off you and allows the world to beat you up and fill you with what we call things of this world..
Just listen to this, please understand that I am NOT condemning you...."don't you know that a friendship with the world is HATRED towards God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world is an enemy of God." James 4:4
Most people who are christians have a religion. SOME christians have a relationship and follow God. We follow Him because without Him we are nothing. We are essentially lost and we will die. There is no life and we might as well call life pointless.
Last point, I really do not want to be one of the unfortunates that has my blood on the clothes of God.

This queston is insulting . I am an educated person and I would venture to say my educational level as well as my IQ is higher than yours. However , I am a Christian. The basis of Christianity is Faith.. Faith is believing without proof. I do not look for proof because I do not require it . Fear , insecurity and doubt cause you to look for it. I feel sympathy for those who do not have it , how scarey the world must seem to you. I will pray that your heart and mind be enlightened and filled with faith.
By the way I am also behind Science 110%. I think stem cell research should be done. Also you should know Darwin never said we came from Ape , he said humans came from an ape like creature. There were no cameras in the Garden of Eden , who is to say Adam and Eve didn't look a little apeish?

As for the question about how did everything come about, your on the right track by saying God. What I want to comment on is the doubting God and going to hell part. Many people do think this way, they shy away from expressing doubt and just go on acting as if they they are 100% certain because they think that they are not suppose to doubt God. There are a couple instances in the Bible where people express doubt to Jesus and in both instances Jesus provides them with evidence to show he is who he says he is. In Mark 9:20-24 (somewhere around there) and Luke 7: around vs 20-22. Lee Strobel, in his book "The Case for Faith" said this: "I believe that where there are absolutely no questions, there is no healthy faith." You see doubt can be helpful, it can assure us we are investing ourselves into something worthy of our time and energy. Also in "The Case for Faith" Strobel illustrates this point like this. If you and I went up to Canada, we would find that there are two kinds of ice, thick ice and thin ice. You can have very little faith in thick ice and it would still hold you up, or you can have an enormous amount of faith in thin ice and still fall through and drown. It's not really how much faith you have, it's have you invested your faith into something solid. I think with Christianity I am investing my faith into something solid.

You are correct. Religious nuts, any religion, doubt scientific proof and logic because religion doesn't follow these thinking patterns. Religion, like anything else, came from centralizing a government. You start with say 4 villages, each has people that have their own ethical convictions. For example, murder: is it bad as we now believe, or is it survival of the fittest as shown in nature? The early governments had to decide this and had no better way to enforce it than through religion.

First of all God don't send no one to hell, we send our self by doing wrong. That is why Jesus came to earth to save the world, not to condemn the world.
There are questions that cannot be answered unless if is through the Holy Spirit. I know you said you are lazy to figure it out, but remember, nothing can't come to light if you don't aloud the Holy Spirit dwells on you and take over you. Seek that the Holy Spirit take place and help you understand the wonderful gloriest word of God.

Kara: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
You are just a whiny baby that thinks they are justifying themselves by denying the existance of God. Since I'm a christain I extremely dislike you right now and you will burn in hell for your beliefs...no offense.
Kim: Our thought process is more along the lines of, "Hm, where did everything come from? The perfect balance of the universe must have just randomly appeared as a coincidence! Earth is set at the exact angle it needs to be from mere chance! Human organ systems function so well and are so intricitely supported because we randomly evolved from monkies! Oh wait-- That makes no sense. Everything's too perfect to have just happened by complete chance. Hm. Must be God."

God doesnt want to send you to Hell.....Satan does. All you have to do is love God and his son Jesus. Just admit you believe. Christianity is all about faith. It is ok to doubt or question your own faith. Do you agree that there is good and evil in the world? That goodness is God's love. You can't see God like looking at the Grand Canyon or Niagra Falls....but....He is there. That is the faith part. Just try and believe that there is something bigger and better for you...for all of us. Choose good over evil everyday and you will know God's love.

That's not true. I didn't just assume what I was told...I was taught about evolution and about alot of different religions...but I chose to have my faith in creationism. Sure some Christians are like that, but not all of them. so NO THAT IS NOT THE WAY ALL CHRISTIANS THINK! As a matter of fact, alot of Christians can give you specific reasons why they believe what they believe instead of another belief.
