True love is defined by your soul finding its counter-part in another. I suspect that beyond that, there is no blanket definition for true love, as everyones idea of love, is something different. I can tell you this. With love there is a part of you, that was empty, and is now filled. There is comfort and lasting joy. There is harmony between you and the object of your affections... a common goal.
The Bible says:
Love is patient, love is kind.
Love does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
(1 Corinthians 13: 4-8)
This is a tall order, yes... but why settle? This is what love was CREATED to be. Happy hunting.

well i have a few theories on what i think true love is......

Loving someone isn't when you picture yourself with them, it's realizing that you can't live without them

Love can sometimes be magic. But magic can sometimes...just be an illusion

Love is when you don't want to go to bed because reality is better then some dream

You know you're in love when you think about someone more times in a day than you think about yourself

True love is when you're giving someone the ability to destroy you, but trusting them not to

True Love is ,not self absorbing..it is selfless..you are loving someone truely when..your love is not self based..also true love, is not baseb on how you are treated by the other person.
by saying this i do not mean that you should be taken advantage of by anyone
but what it means is that if someone truely loves you ,they will honor you,and will not try to change you into someone whom you are not..
just make sure that

both persons in the relaationship are not for self saticfaction ,but are self sacrificing ..for both, each person should care for and ebrace their partners well being

Nothing to expect anything in return. The proof of true love is to feel happy in the happiness of the person you love and feel shattered in his or her sorrows.

true love is when you want that person to be happy even when you are sad. true love is when you wish that person all the best in your life even he has hurt you the most. true love is when you feel you are the most stupid person on earth to love him and yet feel you are the luckiest person on earth to have him.
