No...she probely wants attention. Try playing with her. If you decide to get rid of her, I would not recommend getting another seeing as that is a stupid reason to get rid of a dog and you might do it again.

Selling a dog that old would be quite hard to do. Anyway if she stares too much maybe she needs some attention. Do you ever give her any. It can also depend on the breed of dog. Some need more attention then others. Also if you have had her for 12 years and now want to sell her, that just does not make sense. Or maybe she just has to go out!!

Some dogs will experience "cognitive dysfunction" which is equivalent of senility in people. There are some medications which can help them. There could be other behavior or medical reasons for her staring, and you should discuss this with your veterinarian. You didn't mention the breed, but a 12 year old dog is not likely to high on someone's purchase list. It would be better to see if you can get to the bottom of the cause and improve the situation for you both.

I hope that you realize, sooner rather than later, that having a pet is a serious commitment. You can't just abandon them when it becomes an inconvenience, or when you develop a ridiculous neurosis about them "staring" at you.
It's unlikely that anyone would buy, or even adopt, a 12 year old dog. However, I'd be perfectly happy to get that poor dog away from YOU.
Did you ever think that perhaps the dog is trying to communicate a need? Like food, water, or medical care??
Or, maybe she is staring so much because she can't believe her bad luck in being saddled with an owner such as yourself.

I hope that when you get old no one wants to sell you! That is so cruel. I lost a dog of mine after almost 15 years last Sept. and it was the hardest thing to go thru - I can't imagine wanting to sell a dog because she is staring at you. Maybe her eyesight is failing or she just wants to look at you. Either way you are lucky to have a loyal companion. Wish I could say the same about you.

NO! Twelve years old is way to too old to sell a dog. How mean are You? Dogs don't last forever, and maybe that's the real reason behind your wanting to ditch this faithful companion.
Let the dog live out it's last few years (or months, who knows) with the safety and security of the home it has known.

Wow 12 years old! If you tryed to sell her you wouldn't get anything, too old. You could give it away and probably wouldn't get anyone to take it. If you are going to do anything with it then give it to the SPCA but they will just put it down, it is too old. Your choice. If you have had it for 12 years I think you are an idiot to try to sell her for staring at you! You should be shot or something.

NO!!! At her age, she would be scared & confused. She would wonder what she did that was so wrong that you felt you had to get rid of her. How cruel!!! You want to sell her cause she stares at you??? Dogs do that. They look to us for guidance. Would you sell your 12 year old child cause it stared at you??? Think about it & love your dog, She has given you 12 years iof unconditional love, the very LEAST you can do is take care of her in her old age.

Ya I know what you are going threw, I totally understand.
Back a few years ago I had these creatures follow me around watching my every move, I felt uneasy, little beadie eyes staring in bewilderment.
I finally had enough I told my wife at the time I wanted to get rid of them, she said "But they are your kids!"
My vote is, if you are that shallow that you want to get rid of the dog when she starts to get old Then do it......now .....maybe the next person will give her the respect she deserves in her last few years. I know you do not deserve her after years of your self centered abuse she must have suffered.
Infact I will ask you to take her out of the closet you most likely keep her in, and get rid of her.

No - when you got a dog you made a life long commitment. She is not an object that you can just get rid of when you don't think she is so fun anymore. People like you are the reason the humane society and dog pounds are over flowing.

That's no reason to want to sell your dog. Look the other way when she stares at you if it bothers you.
