The public school system is for conformists. If you can mold yourself into what they want you to be, you will do GREAT, however if you cant *gasp* you might be one of the bad kids. I hated public school because they expected me to be like everyone else, and i wasn't. I actually had my own opinions, thoughts, etc. Homeschool was a great alternative for me, if i had stayed in school I would be a senior this year, but I have already graduated, and am in my 3rd term of college. Homeschool is not for everyone, but neither is public school...

Pressure isn't so much the issue as is quality of education, political indoctrination, and whose ethics are being taught to kids. My hubby and I are homeschooling our kids because the schools here are so bad we won't allow them to go there.
Case in point: check your spelling-mest not messed, wernt not weren't, ment not meant, presure, not pressure. I is ALWAYS to be capitalized, not lowercase, no matter where it's located in the sentence.
These things do count when trying to fill out a job application or applying for college.

Yes, the pressure to learn to spell or use the spell checker.

I'll assume you are referring to the social pressure? If so, it is a very condensed social system. If the pressure is academic, then it's probably more of an organizational problem, than an academic one.

Are you going to try college??

HEY POPS

Wrong, they are paid a Nine month salary that is spread over a 12 month period. I'd like to see you last one year as a teacher, before you criticize them.

BO!!! I watched my nephew go from a staright A student while attending a private school 1-6 grade, then within 2 months of public school his grades dropped to well below average, and due to my family caring, we all pitched in mega bucks in order to send him back to private school, where as he's currently maintaining a 4.0 average again.

People should start advocating for homeschooling where kids are not subjected to peer pressure or the troubles of kids around them
