You are grossly mistaken or just exposed to milk drinks related to India. The variety of Indian drinks is so large and multi contents even without milk.

I don't know the exact reason but I do know that the cow is a sacred animal in Hindu culture. I'm guessing that's why milk is a major ingredient in many Indian drinks.

It's weather.In hot sommer the good old lassi with salt works wonders.But it's not only milk drinks, lemonade too is very common in India and Pakistan.
