Go to a salon. I've had to do some very extensive color correction on some people that have done it at home. Hair color is not that damaging if done right. Roots ONLY should be touched up every six to eight weeks--leave the color on your whole head only for the last five minutes of processing. Remember--once you've gone darker you CANNOT go lighter without bleaching your hair (very damaging). Hair color cannot lighten hair that is already dyed. **JoeJo just gave you some very bad advice**

I believe at home the chemicals are not as strong therefore it helps your hair. Have you ever noticed anyone who's hair looks frizzy and fried most of the time that is do to the harsh chemicals of repeated coloring over time. My mother used over the counter all of her life and her hair was always soft and natural looking, my sister on the other hand went to hairdresser all of her life and her hair is brittle. It depends on who you ask as to what they say. A stylist will always tell you at a salon or they would not make any money. The over the counter ones today are wonderful, easy to use and under 10 dollars can you do better at a salon and I bet your hair will be the better for it.

If you don't know what you're doing, then you need to get it down in a salon. If you're trying to lighten your hair drastically, then I would also get that done in a salon too. You can damage your hair if you don't know what you're doing. I think that you should wait about 2-4 weeks before dying your hair again. Unless, it's messed up so bad that you can't deal with the embarassment.

well coloring your hair at home will probablly save money but getting it done at a salon might look better to it all depends on how good you are. and if i were you i would wait at least a week or so after all the color is out of your hair

i think its better at a salon where the hairdresser knows more about hair and not damaging it. but if u think u know how to color ur hair alone without damaging it then u can also save money!

Get it done at a salon sometimes the over the counter stuff contain something that can make your hair fall out and i know that nobody wants that or if you do use over the counter make sure it doesnt have metalic dye!!!! Thats not good for you hair!! Hope this helps!:-)

I'm not sure which place is better, but it's certainly a heck of a lot cheaper to do it at home. And 4-6 weeks is about the norm regardless of if you do it at home or have it done at a salon. I always do mine at home because it's cheaper that way and I can do it in my own time.

At a salon. That way it would be done right. I would NOT be able to color my hair myself.
