I am currently in the process of potty training my almost 3-yr-old daughter. She has been fully trained for poop for months now, but I was having a heck of a time with the pee. She's been in pull-ups since I started the potty training, and I don't think they helped at all. They feel just like a diaper when it's wet, and that's what she's used to.
Anyway, just last week I found out that they have special trainer underwear. You can either get the plain trainer underwear and plastic pants (The ones used with cloth diapers.), or they make the trainer underwear with the plastic already on them. I got some of those for my daughter, and we are already doing much better. It's been two days since she's had an accident! I'm so excited!
If you're just starting, let me wish you luck! It can be quite frustrating, but keep the faith!

I didn't use pull-ups. Here's what I did for my daughter (who's name happens to be Lily!):
I gave her big girl panties for her birthday as a present. The next day, I put them on her when she woke up and I explained about being a big girl and going to the potty like Mommy does. She didn't really take to the potty, though. In fact, I got tired of cleaning up pee and pooh after three days so I just put her back into diapers.
About a month later, I figured I'd give the panties another try. This time she was much more into it. She only had a few accidents, but she was going in the potty most of the time. I still put diapers on her at night when she went to bed until she woke up dry a week in a row.
She's been going to the big girl potty ever since (that was about 9 months ago).
Every kid will potty train in their own time, you just have to be patient. You don't have to spend the money on pull-ups, just buy some underwear (and stock in paper towels and febreeze!)
Good luck.

i use them, but i think they slow down the process. it's too easy to forget to have your child go to the bathroom. they are great for leaving the house though, no embarising accidents. think of it this way, when you were a toddler there were no pull-ups and you still got potty trained. sometimes they leak more then diapers at night. my son who is potty training now has to where diapers to bed because he pees too much and the pull-ups can't take it. we are working on the sticker reward system now and i plan on putting him in real underwear within the next 2 weeks whether he's ready or not. he knows that the pull-ups are the same as diapers.

All kids are different but I believe it slowed down my daughter. She thought it was just another diaper. One day I told her this is your potty and these are your pretty new panties.....yes there were times I was cleaning up pee every where but after a week she got it. I only put pull ups on her a night. Plus I take her potty seat with us when we go on long trips.

Pull ups worked very well for my daughter. We went from diapers to pull ups during the day with diapers at night ,to pull ups all day +night. Then to panties (big girl underwear) during the day with pull ups at night. And recently went to just big girl underwear all the time. I think the whole process took like 6 months. That may be on the fast side so if it doesnt go as smooth for you dont worry.

I only used pull-ups when i would be away from home and not able to get to a restroom in a timely manner... face it pull-ups are diapers.. i found it took longer to potty train because i used the pull-ups. i didn't use them on my 8 year old and she "got it" much quicker!!!

i wouls praise and remind her to pull her pants down as you've been doing. you nonetheless want the potty to be an excellent element, its nonetheless an fulfillment that she made the relationship from 'desire a wee' to 'flow to potty'. pulling her pants down will be the merely right piece of the puzzle for her yet shes nonetheless absolutely finished nicely. she is popular with that pants come down, merely desires to artwork on getting there in time :-) that is going to come i does no longer problem, yet nonetheless praise the strong attempt!

I think it slowed it down because it still feels like a pamper. When they are at home put them in training underwear. You have to keep a close eye on them. They hate that wet feeling (some children don't but don't be discouraged). Sit them on the pot for 30 minutes if they wet or boo boo on themselves and praise them when they use it.

I think they helped our oldest son quite a bit; it helped him feel grown up, and less like a baby.
Our younger son has not yet made the move to the potty, but has some developmental delays, so one can't truly judge by his progress.

Pull-ups are a big no-no. Kids think they are diapers. The diaper company is the only one who is helped by this product. (Trust me- I have three kids.)
