I am dying of lower wisdom teeth extraction pain and seriously this is the worst pain ive EVER had in my whole life. this is the second day after surgery my face is so swollen. i just hate this. anybody have any tips/suggestions/positive words? thank you i really appreciate it. i hope nobody ever has to go through this

Seeing as how it's Saturday night on a holiday weekend, I won't say, "Go see your dentist," but you might be able to contact him/her by phone in the morning and ask some advice. The two of you might decide that you should have a prescription for an antibiotic called to a pharmacy. Maybe even something for pain. You might even be surpised that your dentist is willing to see you.
If not.................. Take a piece of gauze; fold it into quarters; wet it and squeeze out the water; bite on the gauze the same way you did the day of your extraction. You might need to use two pieces of gauze. This will serve as a bandage over your wound and keep air/saliva out of the socket. Ice can help the swelling if it's from muscle injury, which sometimes happens if your mouth was really propped open (especially if you were put to sleep). If you have an infection, though, I wouldn't recommend ice, because this will hinder your ability to fight the infection.
If this doesn't help and if your face is swelling more and more (instead of having the swelling go down a bit every day), you should pay a Sunday visit to your friendly emergency room. Don't wait until the 4th of July when they are going to be crazy busy. If you see things get worse by Sunday afternoon, get yourself into the emergency room.

You probably have a dry socket. This happens alot with 3rd molar extractions. What happens is that the blood clot that was forming in the in the jaw and area around the missing tooth was dislodged, leaving the area exposed. Call the oral surgeons office who preformed the surgery and they will be able to treat it with a short visit using some Idoform gauze to pack the site, this usually takes just minutes to relieve the pain. Yes it sucks but don't worry - the swelling will go away within a week. It may seem like a very long time though! When I had mine done (many years ago) I remember hiding out for a week at home on pain meds watching movies. Good Luck!

call the oral surgeon who did the extraction...they deal with your kind of questions every day and you are their patient! good luck, I had all 4 done the same day a few years ago and it was pretty tough with a dry socket but the oral surgeon was the one to call
