Hope this helps. It is great to see parents who still want the best safety for their children.

High performance and a good value:

Cosco Protek 22-291 , $35
Cosco High Rise Auto Booster 22-299 , $20
Graco Backless TurboBooster 8491 , $20

All three seats can accommodate children up to 100 pounds and are used with your vehicle's seat belts.

It really depends on the height of your child

They have the booster seats with a back but if your child is taller than the back part it is unsafe for them to be in it
They can run anywhere from 35 dollars and up.
Graco has some nice ones for decent price. Some come with a cup holder, very handy.

Some of the back booster you can take the back part off.

If your child is taller or just about the height of the back booster go for the backless kind. Check to see if comes with a strap to help adjust the shoulder/lap belt so it isn't rubbing in your child face and is at the proper level.
You can find one with cup holders.

I just moved my son to this kind. I got the Graco brand.

My son is 4 and weighs 58 pounds and is 48 inches tall to give you a size example for the backless booster.
He's much taller than the average 4/5 year old

My son is 4 and we use a Britax high back booster. Elitecarseats.com has a good comparison chart. I've read too many articles about 4 year olds who were in car accidents and did not survive because of the type of car seat they were in. I'm going to stay with the high back as long as possible.

the booster is the easiest, the kind that has just the seat and armrests. i use cosco. my 4 almost 5 year old loves it because he can buckle his own seatbelt. it's for 30 to 100 lbs. it's about $10 to $13 depending where you buy it.
