Within the past, ideas on global warming have surfaced and are bringing many concerns. Due to this, I did a research paper on global warming and its effects, causing me to become deeply concerned. It has been brought to my attention that my city mayor has not signed the Climate Protection Act, I would like to change this.

Be pretty when good looking people hand out petitions for signing people sign up without reading.

People have signed petitions to ban water because the person was good looking.

First thing you need to do is a Google search on the phrase, "global warming myths," so you can see the other side of the argument. When you do this you will find articles from both sides calling the other sides views myths. But since you have already been given the party line for one side, try looking at the articles for the other side for a change. I believe you have been deceived.

I am not convinced that less than ONE degree farenheit (or less than ONE HALF of a degree celcius,) average change in over a century constitutes "global warming" much less a crisis. (The most overused word of the Left. Every issue is a crisis with them.)

The Earth warms and cools in natural cycles. This has always been the case. The global warming crowd never mentions that we had an average increase of temperature during the 1940's and 1950's but then we had a marked cooling through the 1970's. I remember in the 70's when the evnironmental "experts" were warning us of the coming global ice age. They told us that if we did not make immediate and drastic changes it was too late. Some of those SAME "experts" are still around today telling us the exact opposite. They were wrong then and they are wrong now.

One volcano eruption puts more so-called greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than all the cars ever driven combined. How, would you go about stopping that? How are you going to stop cows (and every other creature in the woods) from producing methane? How are you going to stop heavy sunspot cycles (which are more likely a cause for a warming cycle than any number SUVs?) How are you going to stop El Nino and La Nina cycles?

The projections are all based on computer models--programs written by humans. These are basically weather forecasts for the next century. I am still waiting to see a meteorological computer model than can accurately predict the weather for a week out, and they want me to believe they have it nailed for a HUNDRED YEARS out--I don't think I can reasonably accept that. I don't care how popular the notion is in some circles.

educate yourself and others. the most powerful sword in existence in knowledge.

i also caution you against any view that says that dumping crap into the air, water, and land can't be bad. we must remember the little ice age that started around 1200 and lasted approx. 500 years all the way to the mid 1700's. the little ice age killed millions in Europe alone, and helped set the stage for the Irish potato famine. it was caused by volcanic ash in the upper atmosphere that caused an accelerated warming trend that melted extra fresh water into the oceans. this caused the density of the water, which caused the currents that carry warmth to the northern hemisphere. these currents depend on the fact that warm water is lighter, and cold water is heavier so it sinks. with the extra fresh water from the poles, the cold salt water no longer goes to the bottom, and so it cools the atmosphere around it. with all the cold water sitting there, the warm water from the Indian ocean can no longer get to the northern hemisphere. so the entire northern hemisphere cools.

Start by asking your friends. Convince them of the importance of this issue and ask them to take the petition to their family and friends. Stand on a street corner and ask people politely for a minute of their time to talk about an important issue. Take the petition to your teachers and ask them to take it to their friends and family. You can reach a lot of people through grassroots organizing. You may not be old enough to vote, but that doesn't mean you can't effect politics. Good for you for getting involved. GOOD LUCK!
