Outsourcing--factory jobs moved to China or call center operations sent to India...

NAFTA led to the loss of 500,000 U.S. jobs between its launch in 1994 and 2002, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

A separate study by Robert Scott of the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) found that some 879,000 U.S. jobs disappeared as a result of NAFTA.

INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY is the only way workers can avoid being pitted against one another in trade wars between governments. The international labor opposition to the World Trade Organization and the Free Trade Area of the Americas show the potential for such a strategy.

I find it funny that so many "neo-con" lovers are all for Golbalization (of markets, ie free trade) but at the same time can't deal with what that means - so called "illegal immigrants" if you pass trade deals like NAFTA labor is fluid, that is globalization folks! It is a double standard to be anti-immigrant and also pro-privitization without borders.

Dufus, don't be a doofus.

migrants do pay taxes -

The Internal Revenue Service issues “Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers” (ITINs) to allow undocumented workers to pay income taxes. Since 1996, 9.2 million of these numbers have been handed out. According to the Los Angeles Times, last year, 1.2 million people paid taxes using ITINs.

It is way easier to get mad at your brown neighbor and go kick his dog than it is to even FIND those $3000 business suits sitting up in those holier-than-anyone marble towers where those foot-thick boardroom tables are being thumped by fists that can only see the next quarter's bottom line!

I agree. Migrant workers pay taxes just like any other US citizen, and the immigrants are just doing the jobs that most Americans would not want to do in the first place.

I don't know what all the fuss is about, anyway. Look how many taxes we pay for people on welfare within the United States. OUR OWN PEOPLE are taking more of our taxes than the immigrants. Besides, people who employ immigrants are paying them less than minimum wage, so more people like having immigrants here than like to admit it.

People have no control over where they were born. America is the land of opportunity. I wonder how the typical American who hates immigrants would feel if they were suddenly thrown into a situation where they had to support their family on fifty dollars a week after working 60-80 hours. Who can blame them???

As far as the threat of terrorists go, we have plenty of them who live here and have lived here for centuries. I am all for the protection of our country, don't get me wrong. But, stereotyping everyone because of such a horrific incident would be like assuming that all Southern Baptists are members of the KKK.

Ah, finally an intelligent question in the immigration area. Illegals come here and work crappy jobs that Americans don't want, while the factory jobs that people do want are "outsourced". Who is really hurting America? The people that work for next to nothing so dying industries such as agriculture can still turn a profit, or the American government who kills industries, such as the auto industry, by sending jobs out of the country?

I am upset at both ... equally ... I really do think that our present administration is selling, or giving away, our country piecemeal ... jobs overseas ... ports and airports handed over ... a leaking border ... snooping on citizens ... creating a war in Iraq based on lies ... I mean, where do we start? Personally I think they should do jail time to a man ... but since this is the immigration forum, would imagine most people debate immigration, legal and illegal ... and illegal immigration is something we CAN do something about ... border security is something we CAN demand and expect our representatives to do something about ... so far the American people managed to stop the selling of the ports, because of the huge outcry ... now there's an outcry about illegal immigration from WHEREVER, and securing our borders ... we CAN make a difference, and we SHOULD make a difference ....

b/c illegals aren't paying taxes. if you want to pay taxes i don't care if you come here and work, as long as you aren't coming to steal my job or affect my lifestyle i don't give a **** what you do.

Also, yeah i hate talking to those ******* indian people on the phone. I cannot understand a goddamn thing they say, and they never seem to give a flyingfuck about my problem.

Heck Yeah i'm pissed off all techy stuff is going overseas. Can i do anything about? No, not really. I'm just one person, even if I make a stand, all I'm going to do is cut my nose off to spite my face, ya know? I mean it's not going to make a difference.

Good Luck!

A company that does such a thing is doing so within the dictates of the law. Those that are here illegally are breaking the law. Breaking the law makes one a criminal. Not only that, these people are also a threat to national security.

The reason some people are so upset about illegals; they don't have the facts and believe everything they are force-fed by the Bush administration. They are mindless and can't think for themselves. What they call "facts" are really just garbage.

We are more upset because while both have economic impacts:

a) one is illegal and the other isnt.

b) one impacts the quality of services like education and health care here at home for our own people and the other doesn't.

c) one impacts the culture of our home and the other doesn't.

Because most illegals don't pay taxes, don't have insurance(auto or health), have about five kids that they can't support without foodstamps that tax paying citizens pay for, and basically trash our country.
