They start out dry - that is why they are crispy.

They absorb humidity, unless you live in the middle of a desert, when the bag is open.

Moisture and humidity make them stale. If you live in a low-humidity area, ie., Phoenix, AZ, you can leave the bag open much longer because of the low humidity there...

when ya buy chips they're sealed for freshness so when they're opened the air hits them an makes them go stale so if ya cant eat them all at once i suggest to wrap the chip packet or place them in a air tight container

thats cause the moisture in the air gets absorbed by them and they go soggy and stale .
