See if yo can get another anilam to ake with you for comfort in the back seat. Next, yo an try teaching the puppy, that when it's told to go intothe car, it's a happy place. Praise him/her with treats, and don't go anywher, Just let the pup lay in the back seat for 30 second, treats, praise, and out again. Worked great with my ESSs. Oh, don't feed them an hour before planning on taking them with you, helps too.

When my Chihuahua was a puppy she used to get upset in the car. Not as upset as yours but she would cry a lot. I put her in a pet carrier and I keep it in place with a seat belt. She eventually got used to it. She is now 4 and is fine when go in the car.
You may want to ask your vet for a dog tranquilizer. I've heard that they help dogs who don't like to travel.

My puppy used to have the same problem. It will get better the more time goes on. Just continue to take the puppy out for short trips. Eventually he'll get used to it.

I had a Doberman who hated car rides when she was young. I had a product called Content-UM recommended to me and within two days of using it on a road trip one summer, my dog felt safe and actually liked the car rides! By day #4, we were using nothing!
I also use it on 4th of July and New Years as my dogs tend to stress over fireworks/fire crackers.

I have a small puppy, I put her in a carrier, (pocket book style) and then I strap it in the seat belt. it keeps it from rocking around when I turn corners and lets her feel secure. She is being crate trained so I guess she is getting used to the small confined area as shelter.

This is not easy.
It helps a great deal to have more than one person in the car
one person to hold, comfort, and stroke the puppy.
You may have to wait till the puppy is older.
YOU are insane to give drugs to a puppy!!!!
If you got them from a Vet you need a new Vet!!!

My dog does that too, he even throws up if the ride is too long. Try giving him a teaspoon of honey 30 minutes before you go, i heard it should help.

Learn to Drive. It's obvious that your driving is making him anxious!
