Hurricane Katrina, Arctic icecaps melting, Greenland glaciers sliding faster into the Atlantic Ocean, Heatwaves in Europe, Ice shelves breaking up in Antarctica, record high temperatures being set year after year.

All of these things and a lot more have happened in the last 5 years. That is making people start to worry that something really bad might happen.

For example: if the Greenland ice cap were to slide off into the Atlantic it would disrupt the Gulf Stream ocean current that keeps Europe warm. That would cause winters in Europe to get extremely cold. England for example rarely sees winter temperatures less than 32F now, but if the Gulf Stream were disrupted they would see winter temperatures below 0F commonly. Lots of other changes would happen too like rainfall patterns all over the world would change causing havoc with farming. All of these changes could happen in as short a time as ten years.

Yes you have to. You know global warming already had a huge effect on the weather system around the world. And that has contributed to a very active hurricane season last year. If you remembered seeing numerous photos and minutes of news footage of damage and devastation from the New Orleans area last August, Hurricane Katrina was credited to be the worst natural disaster in American history, thanks in part to global warming. If you went outside in the heat now, you may know this is one of the hottest summers in recent times. It was also blamed for melting the icecaps in the Arctic and the Antarctic, causing a rise in sea levels all over the world. Many low-lying locations will be underwater as a result. That's right, folks! We all have to pay attention to global warming because of what I've just mentioned aforesaid. Don't just pay attention to the problem, act now and get the politicians to do something about it. Time is of the essence, you know!

Before global warming wasn't affecting the earth or at least, the United States much.
Of Course there were a few storm result of it but most meteorologists just said it was normal. Now though since we have been having so many major disasters, people have started to think. The distasters' effect on oil prices also is a big contributor. Now that the storms have damaged our oil platforms and have raised the price on something we depend on to do almost everything, drive to work, cut the grass, heat our homes, we now are interested in Global Warming. Put in a timeline, 1. Global warming melts the artic and cools the oceans. 2 More storms are created due to the cooler oceans and the storms Damage wildlife, homes, Property, etc. Now people are starting to notices it. 3. The Storms also damage oil platforms making the oil prices sore. So as you can see now the signs of global warming have grown bigger and more damaging making people more aware of the circumstances.

Because the US is finally catching up to the rest of the world. When the majority of the nations ratified the Kyoto Protocol, global warming was at the front of international consciousness. Clinton actually signed it, but Bush has explicitly renouned our membership. Now, people are realizing that global climage change may be a big concern. In fact, the Supreme Court of the US has granted certiorari to a case by several states who are trying to force the EPA to regulate carbon emissions. I think last year's rash of hurricanes helped to wake the government up. Twenty-seven named storms in a season doesn't just happen, there's a larger environmental reason for the increased frequency and magnitude of hurricanes. Regardless, the US is finally stepping up to the plate and realizing that this is a great international concern.

Try to think of things that you can do to help. Everybody should be concerned about the future of our world. It needs to be here for future generations. Everybody should be paying attention to the threat of global warming.

Due to the fact that we are seeing changes in the environment and econimical status due to global warming. It's human nature to not pay attention to certain topics until it affects our lives. Now that we see glaciers melting, oceans warming, disasterous weather conditions, we are aware that we must do something for us and our children in the future.

Because there is something in the human soul that wants to believe that there is something lurking out there that will get us. Politicians use this mechanism to gain power over us by "saving us" from "it".
Science is all over the map on the question of global warming and the cause but there are those that have seized on this issue to convince us that we must be saved from ourselves, by them of course.

i'm easily a geophysical fanatic who will pay interest to climate substitute because of the fact i'm a organic experimentalist. an excellent kind of persons like me, a number of them lots greater misanthropic than i'm even, are finding at what is going on questioning "Righteous!" the reason being that if human beings like me went to human beings such as you and suggested: "whats up, we've this smashing thought for an test that would desire to be completely fantastic if it rather works. some human beings think of that if we placed a team of CO2 and CH4 and N2O into the ambience we are able to make the planet heat up some tiers. some human beings think of not something will happen, some think of the planet will heat, and a few do not understand. If the planet warms up, worst case is that climate might desire to alter, sea point might upward thrust some meters inundating an excellent kind of cities and coastland, croplands might grow to be too arid for agriculture inflicting nutrition shortages, summers might grow to be insufferable in some places, oh and we'd set off a runaway greenhouse result and sterilize the planet aside from the thermophiles. Whaddaya say?" you does not enable us to do it considering you would be all frightened of the damaging outcomes, that are in user-friendly terms *opportunities*. however the shaggy dog tale, as far as us geophysical experimentalists are in contact, is that considering you love your creature comforts lots you not in user-friendly terms will enable us to do the test, in fact you're *scuffling with* us from not doing the test. i'm not sure if it fairly is the literary definition of irony, yet climate skeptics such as you crack me up because of the fact maximum of you are the NIMBY varieties who does not choose something new except it gave them a woodie, tastier beer with fewer energy, or in contact an more suitable hamburger with greater cheese and Baron Verulam on it. besides, thank you for permitting this grand test to proceed. that's an thrilling time to sustain a correspondence in geophysics.

we don't... or at least most people. the ones who do pay attention its because they realize that their children/grand children will never get to see a blue sky, snow, and all that. when it will rain and they stick their little tongues out all they will taste is salt. some people only care about themselves...
