Question. I was thinking of doing a Bake sale and makeing signs and stuff like that a day or two earlier before it actually begins. Is this a good idea? Do you think people might actually come or is it a waste of time? If it's a good idea what should I put on the sign/decorate with to be a good eye catcher kind of thing. Also, please have tips if you have any.

I mean do a Bake sale outside of my house. Because don't you need to have a reason and permission to do it outside of a store?

Yes. I think I bake pretty good and from scratch. I'll have maybe one or two items that aren't from scratched but i'll put the boxes by the food so they know who it was from.

Location--My house
Fundraiser?-- No. Just for fun.

Having a bake sale is a good idea. At school they always have some and by the end of the day they have nothing left. I would go for it, if you know how to bake of course. For the signs be creative and do what you think looks best. Good Luck.

Chances are that people won't go too far out of their way just for a bake sale. If your neighborhood is having a neighborhood garage sale, you'd be more likely to get customers. If you can set up on a busy street, you might get people to stop on their way to and from work. And YES--advertise a couple days in advance--but don't make the sign TOO decorative. Use big letters that will be easy to read as one is driving by.

Good Luck!

Not too sure about what you are asking.

Bake sales are great for school fund raisers and girl scouts. I dont know if I would go to someones home or a bake sale at a local park.

If you are trying to run a personal bake sale, I would suggest that you find a local event, carnival, farmer's market, or fair where you can set up a tent and sell your baked goods.

Run an ad for 2 weeks in your local paper. Yes people really read that!

Also make signs or flyers to hang at a nearby gas station. signs can be made using heavy poster board, try the kind that is couragated like cardboard or foam board, stays flat in wind. Just be sure to make the letters large enough to read at about 100 feet, 5 inches usually works best. Stencils are your best bet! And use black ink on white or neon yellow board, eye catching and readable are your goals!

I know of people going around town an hour before lunch time with cakes and candies, even fried pies and they sell great...I'm not sure how this will work out for people coming to you, but maybe if you had a yard sale and offered hotdogs and baked goods you would do better.

Depends on where you have it. When I was fundraising for the Susan Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day, I hosted a bake sale ouside of Walmart. I sold out within an hour and a half and made over $100. So, depending on your location, you can make a lot of money.

There are some pretty good reasons not just anyone can sell food to the public out of their home. Your local health department would have something to say about this, I'm sure. Better not do it unless you call to see if you need special permission. Also, there's a huge liability fi someone claims they got sick. People are so quick to sue over crazy things. It's just not worth the risk.

You need to check the local laws. In some places you are required to have a tax ID and food handler's card. Maybe a flea market would be a better place than your home. Proceed with caution. Keep in mind you have a tremendous liability. Anyone off the street can accuse you of making them sick and there are tons of mean spirited greedy people who look for opportunities like this.

I have been involved in many bake sales, they are a great way of making money for a charity. People are willing to pay more for anything as long as it's for a good cause.

ok a couple of questions first
do you bake really well from scratch
is this a fundraiser for a school or church
where are you setting up your sale

Samples are a great motivator - give out samples
Setting up to sell in a high traffic area works well
Signs Yeah and phone calls and e-mails they all help to make your sale a success.
