You can love chocolate. Love isn't the right word. If u are in love, then it takes on an entire different meaning. Being in love means that no matter what obstacle comes along and stands between u and ur true love, u will get through it somehow, anyway you can. Being in Love is where if u lost the person that u loved so dearly, then life would fell empty and u will feel like u have been left without a purpose. Being in Love is something that if u do not experience, u will suffer for eternity. That is what being in love is.

Hmmm. What is love. Love can not be given a defintion. Webster can't define it right, nor can any human being. I know by answering the question I am giving my own definition of love. My answer is my own deifintion. You must make your own definition of love in your life. Love and lust are different, yet people mistake them for one another. A feeling of intense pleasure for seeing someone is lust. A feeling that you would do anything to see someone or talk to someone is lust. Wanting to be together with someone for the rest of your and their life is lust. Would you save the other person from sadness at your own loss of happiness? Aren't these the same feelings you get when you love someone? YES! Only you as an individual, through experience and relationships can decide when the word lust turns into the word love. I believe the dictionary should list love and lust having the same defintion. No one can tell you if what you feel is love or lust. Only you can decide your own meaning for the word love. Don't use mine or other people's answers as a meaning for love. Love has no meaning except in your own mind and heart.

I don't think anyone can give you the EXACT meaning of love, but I strongly believe it's more about giving than taking. Real love is ready to sacrifice its own good for the good of others and is able to see the good in others instead of focusing to the bad.
There's a book that talks about love like this:
If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
Love never dies.
That explains love as clearly as it's ever possible.
Hope it helps :)

Sweetie there is no one meaning of love. Love is different for every person to one person it could be a feeling to another it could be just the definite sense. But you can never be sure exactly what it is for you until you life is over and you can look at all the different situation and decide that that is love for you. Until then protect your heart but don't hold on to tight because you have to take chances in order to learn and find out what the meaning of love is for you.

The word Love is from Old English lufu, connected with Sanskrit lubh, 'to desire' and Latin lubere, 'to please'.
Dictionary's definition of love:
Love is a strong liking for someone. It's a strong passionate affection for another person
Biblical definition of love: 1 Corithians
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things; endures all things

Love means giving yourself to someone and not expecting to be repaid. True love is not a loan, but a gift.
In fact, you cannot find love unless you give it. This is not only true for boy-girl relationshops, but for all, including family and friends. The more you give, the more you receive.

Love is when you have this feeling for someone really special, you feel it in your heart.. when you see that person your heart starts beating faster, or you freeze. When your in love with someone, and you are apart from her/him then you think about them all the time, they just don't go from your mind. When you don't see them you miss them so much and all you wanna do is be close to them. But when your with them it's so amazing and beautiful its like your together on a mountain top alone with the moon shining down on you.
omg i've just realized i love him!!

Actually, love is a verb.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

A feeling of joy or extreme happiness triggered by another person(eg relative, friend or partner), animal (eg family pet), or object (eg car(masculine), shoes(feminine) or home). On sighting or contemplating the object of affection, the brain releases chemicals that produce strong emotions of contentment and pleasure.
