Those who say it isn't use the fact that we've only been keeping track of weather for a relatively short while and that the planet goes through cycles like this on its own while those who say it is use the very convincing ice records that show a rise in greenhouse gases since the beginning of industrialization. Where do you stand on this issue?

Global warming is happening. CO2 levels are rising. There are 6,000,000,000 people on earth burning fossil fuels that create CO2. That resulted in about 6,000,000,000,000 Kg of CO2 being released into the atmosphere last year. That release rate is about 40X more than volcanoes release each year, which are one of the largest natural sources of CO2. People have been releasing more CO2 than all natural sources combined for over 100 years now. In just the last 100 years CO2 levels have increased to the levels higher than they have been in the last 450,000 years. Looking at historical records we can see that global temperatures rise when CO2 levels rise and fall when CO2 levels fall.

To recap humans are releasing trillions of pounds of CO2 every year, CO2 levels are above historically high levels, CO2 causes temperatures to rise, temperatures are rising.

So yes I do think it is clear that human activity is causing Global Warming.

Earth was cooling so rapidly between 1940 and 1960 the people who are now wailing about global warming were telling Congress that a new ice age is coming. Al Gores "928 peer reviewed articles" turned out to be nothing of the sort when a second researcher repeated the work and found that only 13 were pro-global warming. Now the question is, "Will he confess to promoting bad information as did President Bush when few WMD were found?" Carbon dioxide is actually a poor absorber of heat waves, IR. Water vapor is a much better absorber and 244 times as prevalent on a molar basis. Water vapor is responsible for 99.96% of all heat absorption by the atmosphere, but it cannot be taxed or control. "Follow the money" and you'll find the source of "global warming."

It is a combination of things. We are changing the atmoshphere -- and that causes a greenhouse effect.

However, there are also cycles of the sun. Some astronomers believe that we are in a period of time when the sun is emitting more energy than average.

I believe that it is a combination of these things that is causing global warming. We won't know for sure which has the greater effect until we can gather more data. On the other hand, we can actually do something about what we are doing to the environment.

i dont believe human activity is the cause of global warming....the earth has had ice ages several times, polar shifts 8-10 times, and the mountains in the antartic are covered w/fossils[life was once abundant]. there was a mini-ice age in the 13-1400's. as the earth's temp. rises, the weather generator that keeps europe warm, shuts off and a mini ice age will start up again. catastrophic events will happen.......

Human activity has caused most of the world's problems. Very few people seem to care about our environment today, it's industry and money that the majority of people think about most. If everybody on earth would do their part in trying to protect our world, it would be much better off. Maybe it will still be here for future generations.

a million. the elements Channel founder (John Coleman) has little or no guidance in meteorology or climate. he's a broadcaster--he wouldn't have a level in meteorology or the different technology. he's my close by television weatherman--he works at a minor television station, because he lost money even as he offered the elements Channel. He receives many stuff incorrect--I truly have corrected him on better than one social gathering (and received emails back admitting that). in case you want to study about climate and climate, flow to a meteorologist or climate scientist, no longer a broadcaster. 2. I truly have met Singer, had lunch with him. i does no longer believe a unmarried element he says. He gave a communication that I attended, and later on human beings requested him questions--each and every time he might want to no longer answer, he'd pretend no longer to have heard the question.

About six months ago, a huge ice-shelf,off of Antarctica broke off into many smaller pieces, all of a sudden. This ice shelf was a third of a mile thick and the size of Road Island.Something of this nature has not happened until just recently, especially for the time scale on this planet.Human activity, for sure...tom science

I believe it is simply caused by humans. What else could be the reason? I mean, the earth revolves around the same place year after year, in relation to the sun of course, so yeah, blame humans.
