Have long, very curly hair. Had it straightened twice at a salon a year ago and had brown perm color job done at the same time. Since then, the hair's been breaking off. I've only used semi-perm, non-peroxide color for roots at home in 6-8 week intervals. No straightening since then and hardly ever use a blowdryer. Tried every conceivable product from frizz ease to creams to stop the breakage and extreme frizz. I work out and sweat every day. Doesn't help. Any products I can use to stop looking like Kramer? Nothing works.. hellllpppp! It's so bad that while the hair's wet, it frizzes into chunks that I have to rip or cut to detangle. Thanks :-)

try using Paul Mitchel's serum and putting it on when your hair is wet. it comes in a clear pump bottle usually sold at beauty salons or beauty supply stores that sell paul mitchel. If you had the straightening and color done on the same day instead of done a few days apart it may have been over processed. if you get it straightened again try traightening first then wait about a week or two then get the color done. and since you have long very curly hair, try asking the person that does your hair try slithering it. alll that does is using the scissors and taking a group of hair and putting the scissors in the hair and running them down with out closing the blades. so all it ends up doing is getting rid of the hair that is causing the problem hopefully. if the person doing your hair dont know how to do it then look for someone that does because it will help.

Try this home remedy. Saturate your clean and dry hair with extra virgin olive oil. Get some from your pantry, no kidding. Massage the oil in and put in enough oil so all your hair is covered but not drippy. Then comb out your hair in layers while blow-drying it hot. This, of course, will not dry the oil but will ensure its benefits. Be careful not to burn your scalp. This should take about 30 minutes, depending on on long your hair is. Let it cool. Then smooth in lime juice (squeezed fresh from the fruit) throughout your hair. Leave in for another hour. Then shampoo. Lather well to get the oil out and not have limp hair. Do this about once a month. It should make your hair regain its strength and make it manageable and shiny. No more perms back to back with color jobs. Try hi-lights only. Don't let your hair grow too long and use mild shampoo (or mix half shampoo half water in the bottle). For strong hair, you can use a shampoo with coconut extract. Or try Forever Long by Marc Anthony, though with moderation. Too much product of any kind should be avoided. It's great just to have your own natural color and clean shiny hair. Good luck.

Oh, honey--you should never put your hair through such torture!!! Your best bet is to CUT OFF THE DAMAGE! Damage to hair is irreversable. The key to healthy hair is prevention. Keep it trimmed, stay away from heat and chemicals as much as possible (good choice on the semi-permanant color--it's actually good for your hair), take your vitamins. Good luck!
