As someone who was once bitten on the tongue by a mosquito (long story) I can tell you that the tongue does indeed itch and when it does, it's amazingly annoying.

Who said it doesn't itch. Of course it does if you have an allergic reaction or ants bite it.

If you eat something you are allergic to - it will! For me it is ketchup or eggs or sometimes nuts!
