House paint designed for interior or exterior decoration is sold at your local hardware store, paint shops, and do-it-centers nation wide. Many decorative paint manufactures show a huge range of colors on their charts, which are made by blending the main tints and tones of their collection.

It can be very frustrating to be forced into buying gallons of paint when all you need is a sample to test the color. Most paint suppliers will produce small test amounts of a color, especially if it is one of those, which you have requested to be mixed. Virtually all-interior painting jobs today, including walls, ceiling, and woodwork, are done using water-based paint, or oil-based paints.

Most good-quality commercial decorating house paint will last for many years if kept airtight in a sealed metal can. Once opened, however, paint’s shelf life is immediately reduced. Color decisions may be affected by the type of paint you have to use, for example, paints that are specifically designed for use on rough exterior walls come in a limited range of shades, while there is a huge variety of colors available for use on interior walls.

All paint should be kept in a cool place and out of direct sunlight. The colors with which we surround ourselves will without doubt have an effect on us.

House paint offers an enormous variety of colors, texture and pattern. It transforms the way in which we see them so that even their structures can seem changed. Choosing how to decorate and protect them can be difficult. Paint has the ability to make small structures appear larger and outside ones less overwhelming.

The function of a room is a crucial factor when deciding on its color and finish. When picking-out colors, find out how they look both in daylight and at night. So before you go decorating a room or anything else, it is worth taking the time to find out how colors behave in combination with each other.

Change the accent pillows and drapes. Start with one wall in a vibrant red. I am a sucker for color. If you do a main wall in the red, that may be enough color to satisfy your need. But if you like the accents you already have established, try a lighter grey of the carpet on all the walls. Mute the woods(baseboards and molding) with an antique white so its not so "in your face" white.

Depends on if you want a monochromatic (soothing and calm) look or whether you want a dramatic look as well as if you want contemporary or classic traditional.

If the grey carpet is cool grey, a nice soothing color would be a mint green, a soft pink or a light grey, I would avoid any colors that are tan because of your grey carpet.

If you want dramatic, I would look at a brownish purple or a deep plum color.

A very cool tool is available at the Better Homes and Gardens website where you can color a room.

How about a nice light beige on the walls or pale champagne? And maybe you could get a purple rug or pictures with purple in to break up the block colour. Lilac would also go well with the champagne and purples.

If you want to keep the pillows, then you might try matching a ligher tone of the purple on the walls, like a lavender. However, if you're willing to give up the pillows, then you could try just about any color. www.sheffield.edu has a good color article every month that might give you some ideas...

I am assuming you mean champaign yellow and not pink. If it were me, I would repaint the white with a platinum (white and blue)tint, except for one wall. That I would paint a dark maroon. I would pick the wall behind the largest white peice of furniture... Fabulous!!!!!!!

Light blue? It would compliment your other colors and be restful and peaceful. You could do some of those dry-brush techniques that make the paint look textured like wallpaper, if you don't want a flat look.

Well most colors go well with light grey so it probably depends on what theme your going with and what your bed set looks like!Or since grey is neutral try using colors that will pop! hope this helps!
