Weather could be a big deal to some as to if there is a God or not, but whether or not there is a God, is the only real deal, come heaven or hell, that will ever matter - needs no proof, just faith and what it changes is eternity for each individual. The flesh is not a home for the soul, but the soul is a resident in flesh for a time.

The big deal is about life and people want proofs to support their beliefs. It certainly changes people's point of view if someone would present a valid evidence againts other because that would prove the other is false. But even though evidences are before people's eyes, no one is ready to give up anyones own ego and pride and admit they are wrong. It's just how humans are.

It'll change where you go after you die. But in the here and now, it provides instruction in morality and how to treat other people. It gives you a friend that you can speak with whenever you want. It lets you know that you are not alone and that He can give you the strength to get through the worst of life's troubles.
As far as proof, the Bible, my own experiences, and the scientific confirmations of a creator are enough for me.

What has the weather to do with God? Proof might save a lot of believers from wasting their time when they could be doing something more productive.

God is just a concept some people accept because they cant face the realities of their existence. It serves only as a rationalization for people to justify their lack of self confidence by claiming it has nothing to do with their misery. There are people who are intelligent, and then there are people who are religious.

People spend their entire life wanting to know the meaning of life, so they search for it. Whether they believe there is a God who created it or what is up to them, but it keeps people preocupied with theories and gets their hopes up that there might just be heaven, afterlife, reincarnations, etc.

It is a big deal, because it will determine where you spend eternity. I encourage you to read your Bible, then you will know. Start with the book of John.
