A good team leader should have three things going for him/her. Being appointed "leader" provides the authority of position. Having sound "knowledge" of the subject (technology?) involved permits the leader to guide rather than misguide the team. Having the ability to effectively "interact" with people permits the leader to arbitrate differences, obtain input from all and forge a common reachable goal for the team that all will support and work hard to accomplish.
