if its in the early stages he can have a whole 20 or more years ahead of him. there is no cure for lung cancer right now but there is treatment that may lead to curing that cancer or it may just cure that one and grow in a different spot , it happens many times with many people i know. the best thing to do now is support his choices and stay by his side , he may live for a long time or he may not , noone knows for sure not even his doctor. sorry.

Survival from lung cancer is dependent on the stage of the cancer. The stage is determined by the size and location of the tumor, the presence of cancer in the surrounding lymph nodes, and spread to distant sites. When lung cancer is treated in its earliest stage the cure rate approaches 70 % or greater. The size of the tumor also impacts on survival, even for tumors discovered at an early stage. The survival is worse for patients whose tumors are greater than 3 cm. than for those who have tumors less than 3 cm in size. It remains to be seen whether detection at an even smaller size (less than 3 cm.) has an even greater impact on survival.

Lung cancer is a bad one, but if it's in the early stages he has a chance. Catching it early is very important. Best of luck to both of you.

It depends on the stage and the type of the lung cancer. Is it a non small cell or a small cell type or carcinoid type of lung cancer? You can find helpful info at www.cancer.org.

ok, i've known 2 people with cancer (a different sort) and 1 worked well with the cancer doc(in her 70;s-advanced stage ovarian) and the other did not(mid 30's-also advanced ovarian) - the one who did just played 9 holes of golf this week and the one who didn't was buried this week - please have your boyfriend cooperate with his doctor and you'll see the results you're hoping for!

Since it is caught in its early stages it is treatable so it is possible that it might go away!
