lol Seems like you need to learn about human childbirth. The belly button on humans is where the umbilical cord was connecting the baby to the mother. Animals aren't born the same way.

Apparently a lot of the responders to your question must think that cats and dogs hatch from eggs. They have umbilical cords just like cows, horses, pigs, and almost all mammals (except the duckbill platypus and a few others...different scientific classification though). Personally, I am a clone (there are millions of me) and we have fake belly buttons that the mad scientists burned into us so that we could pass as "normal." But yes, the umbilical cord was attached to the mother's placenta.

Actually, they do have leftovers from the cord. It's just hard to see, especially if healed well. Now, if your dog has/had an "umbilical hernia" you'll get to see first hand what a nice bulging belly button looks like. sometimes they need surgery to repair it.

dogs and cats are placental mammals and as such they do have umbilical cords similar to humans. they do not have a "belly button" but they do have umbilical scars which are easliy visible when their abdomens are shaved. this area is often pale in color, flat, and hairless. typically is about a half to whole centimeter in size. it is often used as an anatomical landmark when spay incisions are made. although the area is not a navel in the human sense, it is the canine or feline equivalant. the "belly button" in animals is more properly known as the umbilicus.

They have belly "buttons" howvere these aren't little circular puckers, as they are in humans. They tend to be longish scars, and are hidden under the belly hair, so they are hard to see.
