Everyone grieves in their own way. Two months is a pretty short period of time to grieve. Just because you're ready to move on doesn't mean they are. Give it time.

Get thema puppy. People can't resist a sweet, happy, cuddly, fun puppy. It won't replace the dog that passed away, but it will give them something else to focus their love and attention on. They will still love and miss the dog who died, but this will help them move past the grief.

Beloved pets are like family members. When I lost my dog after 18 years, it took me a full year and a half to even think of getting another dog. People greive differently. Give them time. But, I wouldn't rush to get another dog. Your family will let you know when it's time for another pet. Give them that time. It's very important.

Good luck!

thats very sad to know. well, you'll all get over it soon. maybe y'all need to talk about it, and instead of carrying the burden individually, why not help each other out to recover from the death of your dog. have a family meeting and see what all you guys want to do next. would you consider buying or having a new dog to divert your attention to... go out and have fun. try to divert your minds out of the sadness.

As much as you'd like it all smiles and laughter, you can't control how other people feel and you shouldn't want to. Each of us grieves differently. Give them their time and space and they'll get through it. It is difficult to be around, but it is life and it does happen. We all have to learn to live with it and accept it. It's part of growing up and maturing.

When my mom's dog died my step-dad brought home a frisky puppy, even though my mom "didn't want another dog," she couldn't keep from falling in love with the little pup. My step-dad said it was his dog, but in time my mom took her over.
