Where is a word that designates a particular place within a space. Place is a requirement for a physical object. God is spirit. Spirit is not a physical object therefore it requires no place within the space we know as the universe to exist at.

I disagree with Yoda, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, including the sun.
On the first day when he said let light come to be, God then made it so that light was visible from the surface of the earth.
The bible says..'The heaven of the heavens cannot contain you'..so He is very large.
He says 'the heavens are my throne and the earth is my footstool'...Isaiah 66:1
Jesus calls Holy Spirit God's finger,so in Genesis God's finger/hands was moving over the earth...Luke 11:20, Genesis 1:2.
He created our heaven, over the earth, but where he lives, he always was.
Isaiah 45:12 I myself have made the earth and have created even man upon it. I---my own hands have stretched out the heavens, and all the army of them I have commanded.

Only when we (humans) learn to think outside of the boundaries of our own limited experiences and possibilities will we come closer to understanding the true nature of God, and the universe. Right now, our capacity is hampered by our closed mindedness, our fears, and the inability to think “outside” of the box we call home – the planet earth, and of course, our own, almost non-existent abilities. So, those of us whom try to imagine what the “God Energy” must have accomplished within the syntax of the laws our own physical world, will never fully understand the true nature of who and what God is, and therefore never grasp how (physical) Reality came into existence.
Books like the Judaeo-Christian Bible contain ideas which are almost like fairy tales or parables, attempting to explain and simplify events which occurred outside of the physical plane, and which were, at one time, were perhaps, beyond our understanding, much in the way simple bed time stories are used to teach valuable lessons to little children. We are not children any more, and the time has come to interpret these accounts (such as the Creation story), in a different manner.
Einstein has already established that energy and matter are one and the same. Matter is energy at its lowest frequency of vibration, and each can be readily converted to the other. Within this basic, proven scientific fact can be found the true nature of the creation story. God (or “the God Energy”) created crass, low vibrational matter (Everything) out of nothingness (energy) and brought our (physical) Reality into existence. That God Energy is an Intelligence far beyond our comprehension: the First Cause, from which all that we know at this level of existence originated. Where did the God Energy come from? Obviously, we are not yet able to comprehend the answer to this question; again, the same that way children (and many adults) are not able to understand which came first, the chicken or the egg. (Evolutionist and biologists never ponder this question – the answer being quite obvious.)
The Creation myth is no myth, but a story, told in simplest terms, concerning events which occurred outside of matter and physical existence, and which resulted in our physical world.

There is physical heaven and spiritual heaven. The account in Genesis is talking about when God created the physical heavens and earth...(ie: were the birds fly, the universe, etc). The spiritual heavens is where God resides. The Bible was written to give a description of earth and man's creation, down fall, and future.
Where was He? Think about electricity coming into your home. Where is the power plant or source? Is it in your home? Does it need to be in your home in order for you to benefit? No. God doesn't have to be physically present in order to accomplish stuff.

God walked on Earth. He had to create this before he could actually walk on Earth.
Are you of the Christian faith and do you believe in Christ and his existence. If you have the faith, that Christians are supposes to have to believe that what the Bible tells us is true then, you would not have to ask this question. God is God and he is in Heaven now and he did not ascend to Heaven until the resurrection. Get a King James Version of the Holy Bible and start reading and sit down with a preacher that could discuss this further with you and give you more understanding on this issue.

Well Mr Science you've asked such a good question in such a shallow way.
The Heavens and the Earth are the material world not the spirit world. Maybe you should study chaos theory, especially the mathematical side. Then you'll see that even numbers can be irrational and contradictory. Maybe you should just think it over a bit.
According to rationalist thought, our existence can't be real as we live in an undefinable state called infinity.

God was not in heaven nor on earth, God is a spirit, and our intelligence no matter how advanced it might be, will never be able to conprehend the whereabouts of God. simple, can you understand the sentence That God has no begining and no end, this is quite confusing, but since humans have a begining and a end. we try to picture God in the category of a human, because we can not picture God as anything else besides beign human our limited person could not accept anything greater, besides being flesh and blood, or else we would not consider a person someone a living entity

There are three heavens: the first being our atmosphere in which we live and breathe, the second being outer space, the third being wherein God sits on his throne. Mankind as a whole, has not and will not see the third heaven no matter how far technology advances. There have been some, believers, who have seen the third heaven in the spirit.

As imperfect humans we can never understand the spirit realm.Jehovah God and his angels reside in the "heavens" ie.the spirit realm.
When the sciptures speak of God creating the heavens,it is referring to the celestial bodies, including the sun.
The scriptures also tell us that Jehovah God existed before all things,He has no beginning and no end.

I recommend the Dakes Bible, it is the King James Version with commentary by Dake
He studied the bible for 42 years along with other books of historical nature. He really opens up and explains a lot. Also Wilmington 's is another good study. God has always been there and I think we will learn someday that we are not the only people nor the first on this planet.
