You seem to be making the mistake of calling Roman Catholics - Christians, THEY ARE NOT.
Roman Catholics encourages the use of images, idols, plastic crucifixes, plastic Marys, holy water, and rosary beads etc etc etc.
The list is endless. They do this because the selling of idols is a billion $ business worldwide, and the Vatican does not want to lose out on this massive money making scheme. In fact the RC church is so intent on idol worship that they have REMOVED the second commandment, Exodus 20:4 THOU SHALT NOT MAKE UNTO THEE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE .........
They have taken this out of their teaching, (check Vatican website) and made the 10th commandment into two! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!
Real Born Again Bible Believing Christians DO NOT WORSHIP IDOLS. We have the word of God in our heart and have no need of a plastic Jesus or an image of Mary.
Real Christians have a relationship with Jesus Himself and are filled with the Holy Spirit of God. We know Gods word and obey it, we do not follow the false teaching of man, we only have Gods word as in the Bible.
Roman catholics are the ones who worship idols NOT CHRISTIANS. Please do not confuse the two.

I don't know most Christians I've met have been idle worshippers and rarely gone to church etc.
But seriously everyone worships some form of Idol in their life, it's just that Christians are prohibited from worshipping false idols.

Personally I don't have crucifixes, and I'm a Christian. Sadly some think that it is holy to have a statue of Jesus on a piece of wood, silver, gold. But most do not. The reason people have them is to remind them that Jesus died on a cross. But everybody worships an idol to some degree they probably don't actually know it.
People worship money, cars, actors, spouse, work, kids, sex, and of cause their football team, and many others things. Any time people do such a thing they are dishonouring God.

Absolutely not.
My friend, I think you may be confusing symbolism with an idolotry.
When you face Mecca to pray, are you worshiping the Kabba?
Are you worshiping the black rock at the Kabba when you walk around it 7 times in counter clockwise manner, then touch or kiss it?
A crucifix to a Christian is like the Kabba to a Muslim.
When you face it or prostate to it, you are showing respect, not worshiping it as if it was a living deity.
Symbols help us focus our meditations, much like looknig at a picture of your mother helps you remember her.
I hope that clears things up a bit.
Peace!

Actually, that is called an icon, like other images of Jesus Christ and Mary. Personally, I don't need any icon to worship. My church, like most others, has a large wooden cross (without an image of Jesus Christ's body) behind the pulpit, but there are no other icons, statues, or pictures of Jesus, Mary, or anyone else. We never pray to the cross. I do know that some Christians will kneel in front of an icon or small statue, but I will let somebody who actually does that explain their reasons.

Jesus on cross is an idol, marry with little jesus is an idol
and all christians worship them.
they then blame other religions of idol worhip
there is no harm in idol worship..it is first step towards meditation to concentrate on an external symbol

You don't need to have a crucifix to be a Christian. Even your church does not need to have one on its pulpit. The bible does not tell us to do this. If you feel you are regarding a cross as an idol then don't have one.
Give your life to God by accepting Jesus as a ransom for our sins and a worthy life before God. This you need.

We don't worship the Cross as an inanimate object. The Cross is a symbol of God's redemptive Love for Humans. That is something to always remember and be celebrated.

Christianity did not make idols until after it hit Italy, those Romans LOVED to carve statues and paint pictures and make mosaics of their various gods and they glommed onto the Madonna and the Crucifixion and all the OT prophets with gusto

Yes... and I'm a Christian.
Every time we turn to a sin .... we worship an idol.
Idols don't have to be a statue...a picture...or a cross. Idols could be your spouse...if you put them before God.
Idols are MONEY ....when you see someone in need and don't give it.
