Me and my mates recently held a BBQ in which we used ham strips as a basis for some of the dishes.

One of the guests, who was a Muslim, ate a number of the dishes.

We are now planning to hold a party, in which much the same food will be served.

Q. Should we tell our Muslim friend that the dishes contain "pork" ? Or should we just keep our mouths shut and watch him munch away ?

In response "P. M", the reason why we cooked dishes containing pork was because we didn't KNOW that there would be a Muslim at the BBQ, in the same way that we didn't know that 2 of the guests were vegetarian and that another had a wheat allergy, but all those other people has the sense to ASK what was in the each dish first in order to know what they could and could not eat. NO one knew that the guy was a Muslim until the day AFTER the BBQ.

Okay, you didn't know there would be a Muslim at the bbq, so it's okay that you made things with pork. However, because you now know that this Muslim friend of yours will be going to the bbq, then YES, tell him that there will be dishes containing pork. Not telling him would be cruel, like snickering at his religion.

To answer your question, yes, it's wrong to give a Muslim pork.

What if I had a bbq and invited you and served human placenta paté to you but didn't tell you what it was made of, and instead watched you munch away, giggling all the while? What would you do later if you found out I served human flesh and didn't tell you? What would you say if I told you, "Oh, I knew you'd be upset, so I kept quiet and watched you much away instead." Not cool! So tell him, and cook something else for him so he can enjoy the food. He will thank you for it.

If he does drink beer (or whatever), at least it's of his own volition. Don't force him to eat what is forbidden by "tricking" him into it.

You need to lighten up Calum.... Korman mighty not have known anything about the pork being used in the soup (not sure what else you used it for), but I'm pretty certain he knew what was in those bottles of Bud he was drinking.

As alcohol is against the Muslim religion also, I don't think that a little bit of ham in his soup is gonna cause him too much grief.

Anyway you're too late Cliff's already told him, and he didn't seem too upset, but he would like you to let him know which dishes they are next time so he can avoid them.

P.S. The pasta dish sucked - hope you guys don't make that for your party.

I would just tell him it has pork in it. If your going to have vegetarian guests, its always good to have atleast 2 vegetarian things. At my cousins BBQ she made macaroni and cheese for the vegetariansand spegetti with home made meatless sauce.

Tell him because its bad for Moslem's to eat pork its against there religion its a sin for them to eat pork. Its so easy to say to him that there is pork its a religion thing let them follow what they believe in plus it makes you a better person.

Why would you do such a nasty thing to anyone? What kind of creep serves a dish containing pork to someone whose religion prohibits them from eating it?

Either inform him, or don't invite him.

from your question it seems he ate it unintentionally and in Islam if you eat pork unintentionally god forgives it but as it is a prohibition in Islam to eat pork you should most definitely tell him that the dishes contain pork or any kind of product related to a pig (lard, bacon, pepperoni, etc.)

Tell your terrorist friend nothing let him eat pork. If it were me I would feed him all kinds of pork and pork products. Then tell him he has been eating pork all night and is not going to recieve 10,000 virgins he is instead going to go to terrorist muslim hell and rot. I would then kick him in the nuts and tell him to go back to his home country, bastards always want our freedom but want us to adapt to there culture. Tell him in america we don't care about there F#@%ed up religion and proudly support pork producers and eat pork.

MAYBE ITS JUST BETTER IF YOU TELL HIM Now before he finds out on his own.

My dad's a vegeterian. I rememebr my uncle took him to a restaurant and ordered an item which had cow meat in it, he didnt tell my dad. my dad enjoyed it very much. they went together to eat for a month, then once my dad went alone and ordered the dish and the manager told my dad if he knew that there was cow meat in it and my dad was very very shocked, he didnt ever go out to eat with my uncle after that day. but they are still cool friends.
