That is a tough question. There are so many variables.

James 1:14 (NKJV)
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

James 4:1 (NKJV)
Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?
__________

First, I have to remember that I'm still a sinner and that I can make poor choices because I still struggle with sin. I can look at things and make choices base on money, prestige...and so on.

Second, I filter it through the Bible. If something is a sin...then that is obvious.

Thirdly... I keep a mental list of my top priorities and when something comes my way...I see how it will effect my priorities.

My top priorities are:

God...Church services 2 times a week and teaching Sunday school

Husband

Family

Home

Work

__________

I constantly have to fight to keep things in priority. Work wants to come before my family....and so on. If I can't keep my job where it belongs...then I will have to get rid of it.

I will stand in front of God someday and He could say...."You toiled and toiled at your job...and you never taught your children about me. How foolish...I gave you 5 children for 17 years...and they do not know me."

First, you need to find and know who the real God is? Certainly not Jesus. Two follow what you read to the letters and not the twisting of the pastors and men in robes,
Thirdm stop or dont mix your dream with the words of God.
To know the will of God is to be prudent and calculative and think straight. After this care and precautions, offers prayer to God to guide you through your choice and endeavour and He'd sure do that.
Its not the other way round. We can talk more if you do not mind.

With great difficulty! I hear from God usually through others who have the gift of prophecy, or pictures and words of knowledge. I'm not sure I always hear God for myself, although he has prompted me to pray for people before. The harder part is knowing when His will for me is going to come to fruition. His time takes longer than I think!

It's a day by day thing. Consistent Prayer, Bible study, church, fellowship with Godly ppl. God works through all these ways. Sometimes it's an impression in my Spirit or that "still small voice".

Pray and ask God what He disires for you to do. If you are doing what God wants you to do you will have peace in doing it. If you are doing what God dont want you to do God will revele it to you.Read Jonah and what happened to him when he got out of God's will. God will let you know one way or another and He will bring you back to the place He wants you.

Dr. Charles Stanley wrote a GREAT book on this that I've read. It's called "How To Know God's Will." I highly recommend it. Basically, it says that you know God's will if it glorifies Him, is Biblical, and ultimately draws you closer to Him.

Love God first of all and our neighbor as ourselves. When it comes to specific matters like what job, etc we are free to choose as long as it is within the confines of Gods law of love. He also has given us a lot of Wisdom to help us choose especially in Books like Proverbs.

I simply pray and trust in God. I don't claim to know the will of God but am happy to place my trust in Him. My favourite payer is "Father, thy will be done".

You pray, you study, and you share in the work, the worship, and the sacraments of the church.
