Have you ever notice that when you call the local police to report for emergence such as robbery/heard a gun short around your neighborhood, they takes at least 2 hours+ to arrived.
From my experiences most of the time, firemen were arrived way faster then the policemen. Which make me wonder are they really trying their best to do their job? Or they try to save their *** by avoiding physical contact with the bad guys.

I don’t want the think police are sucks, but according to all the negative image of police. Such as:
1. The fact shows on above
2. For most of us all we experience is getting speeding/parking tickets from them.
3. Seeing them hiding around supermarket eating donut.
4. Unnecessary beating to suspect which show on TV.
Which make wonder is there anymore kinds still want to be a police when they grow up?

P.S. For the Firemen things, I call them 45 mins after I call the police because of someone was injured. But the police came hours and half after the firemen had left.

The point I'm trying to make is, why do we need them? Specially they never came on time while you really need them.

We need a police to solve the problem. We don't need a police just to write a police report.
If we need a report, all we need is a reporter.

I still can't find a good answer for my question. For most people who think police did a great job, try to thing about this situation:

1.You got rob in your house, they tide you up and you have no way to move.
2.They put your 3 months old baby into the oven and force you to give them all the money including credit card no. etc...
3.They got all they want, but they turn on the oven and then leave...

What will you think if the police came 2~3 hours after to save you?

Yes they do here. Their nice, but they don't do their job. I can just call my brother and friends that live up the street, they would get here faster than the cops and do what needs to be done to clear up the problem.

They really need to publicize the positive side of police officers. All you see on the media is the negative. Police officers are very busy people. They get TONS of calls throughout the day. A fireman arrives more quickly because all they do is sit around and wait for a fire to start, sometimes they will go days without a fire. A police officer never goes days without a call. Most likely when you call the police department all of the officers are already on call and they can't just up and leave what they are doing to respond to your call. How would you like it if they were at your house taking a report after you were robbed and then they interrupted you and said, "you'll have to excuse me, I have another call." I have seen officers leave the scene while giving a traffic citation, but to leave a domestic would be unacceptable. Have some respect for your law enforcement. They have a tough job.

Where do you live?! I don't want to live there!!

Firemen arrive first because they live in a state of readiness. They aren't out giving ticket and whatnot. They're at the Fire Hall, checking equipment and doing fireman things.

It's been years since I got a ticket, but I've been stopped by the RIDE program.

I've also noticed a prominent police presence when children are arriving at school. They cruise by and make sure things are normal.

I see them outside the donut shop when there are large groups hanging around, but I've never seen an actual beating.

A retired cop told me that it used to be harder to be a cop. Now all you need to do find the bad guy is follow the red car with the loud music and the smell of drugs and wait.

The cops of New Orleans were disappointing though. I don't know why they did what they did. Are you from New Orleans?

Did you ever stop to think that they are overworked and underpaid? I know what the cops here make, and it's crap. Not only that, you have 300 officers in a town of approximately 3,000+ people, and they are expected to respond to EACH AND EVERY CALL, no matter how nitwitted. They did a study on the 911 system because so many people were complaining of this problem, plus getting a busy signal. They found that people were calling for completely stupid stuff, like directions, or to see if they could get a ride to the store. So next time, have some patience! Be a little understanding!

When the police are on duty and in a large city it takes what seems forever for them the respond. Many times this can be due to traffic and other situations that affect the civilians in our population. They are no different and are treated not different making it harder and more time consuming for them to do their job, IE.respond to a simple car fender incident. In a smaller area, rural, the time to respond can be the same due to the spread out distances the police must travel. When they are late, I do not believe they are doing their jobs correctly. When they are on the ball and things go according to the manual people notice that and a different opinion prevails. This is the same as with almost all jobs.

Yeah they suck here too...

especially the one who risked his life to pull an injured woman out of a burning car only to be struck by a drunk driver..

then theres the ones that search the woods for missing children in every kind of bad weather Immaginable.

Or the one who arrests the guy who just beat the stuffing out of his wife and stays cool, civil and professional...

I honestly dont know what they are like on your planet... you bet your butt Im keeping the ones I have here.

perhaps the firemen come in faster cause they don't have about 10 waiting calls pending ?

also many nuts call 911 just for any stupid shi*t that overcharges the police patrols.

just out of curiosity, did you fail at your local police recruitment exams?

The officers that back me up work very hard and we try to be very understanding and polite. It's hard to be polite when people spit on you and yell at you because they did soemthing wrong.

In my area they respond to calls in priority and sometimes you can hear on the radio 911 call holding. Too many calls and not enough staff.

No, sorry. Our local police are polite and decent. They have a difficult job and the department is understaffed. And TV shows are biased--I wouldn't go by what they depict.
