Both are gorgeous but as I'm a vegan I'd rather have a rabbit.

this all depends on the conversation you are having.cats generally have a lot more going on in their lives on a daily basis, dealing with maintaining their position in their in the own clan (generally known as pecking order), neighborhood threats (dogs & kids), maintaining food & water resources (kissing up to you & your erratic schedules & attitudes), not to mention finding someway & somewhere safe to raise a few kitts! All this while fighting off the parasites, the sun/cold, and those vicous competitors that would rather slash you & chase you off a roof or into a car! an unloved, unprotected feline is unlikely to get more than a year & a half without a broken hip, tail, foot, neck abcess. and the older ones who get chased away from home generally die of dental agony- everybody needs their teeth brushed!
its amazing to them everytime you come home again with a pet, a kiss, a compliment, a brush, a little delicat or whiskerlickins- and people with catnip on cat cardboard scratchers deserve a little lovin conversation about the day! maybe even about your day at work or with your own colony!
maybe if you-all asked a few questions, watched the activities & interactions, you'd understand the conversation! Repeating the question, in the same tone of voice, up when the inflection goes up etc, listen to the differences when the cats 'talk ' to each other, copy them, see if they'll copy your comments! soon, when you speak 'cat', you'll prefer them. they have a much bigger vocabulary than dogs. but dogs have the greatest facial expressions, no?

I like both. As a pet, personally I'd rather have a dog. Besides being allergic to cats; I like that dogs are so expressive, and always there when you walk in the door. It is also very nice having a dog for protection; my neighborhood had a run of people breaking into cars, I really believe that having the dog outside deterred them. Plus, there are a lot of people's apartments I've visited that reek from a dirty litter box.

I think what it basically boils down to is what you want out of your pet. Cats are more like having roomates - they have thier own thing going and you hang out when it suits you both, whereas dogs are more like children - they are more dependant, but also more affectionate.
Personally, I like cats better, but mostly that because I don't have the time or energy to deal with a dog. And I like that my cat kinda has it's own thing going.

Both. Dogs should be served with a chilled merlot. Cats are best on the grill.

cats- don't know why- but I love looking at them- they are so elegant and decorative- they move seamlessly and are so agile- they can be very affectionate and friendly, and they look at you as if they know what you are thinking about- I've had cats in the past but am cat free now, but I love to hug other people's cats.
As for dogs, well... they are none of the above!!

Why is this question in the food and drink section. Do you mean as pets or food?
