Hi! I am a vegan. I’m in a rush so bare with my typing and flow. First of all, let me just say that I get many nasty comments from those that don’t bother to understand where caring humans come from, and as a result much time and breath is wasted by those that assume we don’t know what we are talking about. But we do- we research and dedicate our lives to saving others and I thank you for asking this question instead of assuming we had nothing else better to do with our time than make up silly disgusting stories. If more people did what you did there would be less fighting and more solving.
I have three reasons for being a vegan: the health benefits, to stop world hunger, and the unnecessary torturing of animals. But, I'm only a non-organic vegan, meaning I do eat meat and dairy products that only come from organic and well-treated animals. I choose not to eat or use any other kind of animal product because of the anti-biotics and growth hormones injected into them. Not only is it painful and completely unnatural for the animals we eat, but it is very harmful to humans. By eating contaminated meat we contaminate our bodies. Our immune systems are forced to encounter these anti-biotics which then makes them more and more immune to the medication for when we are ill. As for growth hormones (used to speed the aging of the animal to save money and time) studies have show that young girls breasts mature at an earlier and faster rate, assumed by many to be a result of these growth hormones. The animals I speak of are generall y factory farm animals (large corporate farms) who live horrible lives as a result of these injections and neglect. Most (for example cows and pigs) are forced to live in cramped conditions for their entire lives. Many live in a three-foot wide stall giving birth over and over or being milked by machines. But, in order for a cow to produce milk, she needs to give birth to a calf every year. Just after birth the calf is often ripped away from its mother and put into a crate to live until it goes to the slaughter house to make veal. Because it is denied to roam freely its muscles are weak and therefore the meat is more tender. These conditions are often terrible- the people rarely take care of them. Baby chicks are seperated by sex- males are thrown out because they don't produce as much meat as the females- and the females are painfully de-beaked usually by snapping or burning the tips off (the stressful environment makes them pech at eachother). They, too, are injected with growth hormones and their legs often can’t keep up with the rapid growth of the bird’s body. As a result, their legs often snap beneath them from the weight and their internal organs are strained. All types of farm animals are beaten daily for not cooperating or being too slow because of weakness. Many factory farm animals are forced to be cannibles- they are fed their fellow friends bodies (parts unused by the slaughter house or ones that did not make it through their time at the farms) because it’s cheaper than buying them the correct healthy food. It is a major disease river way (can we say mad cow and avian flu?). The third reason I am vegan is because a major key to ending world hunger is to stop eating meat. With the water, space, and grains used to feed these loving friends we deprive others that are most needy from having food to eat. It sounds rash, so you’d best go to the link- it explains it better.
There is so much more to be told about these animals lives and the importance of preserving respect for ourselves and the others we have been entrusted to watch over. I am not saying we should not eat animals, we just should not those that have suffered for the pleasure of our pallets.
Great question! Thanks!

Veganism is a philosophy that incorporates what you have asked about -- humane treatment of all animals. But that is a small part of being a vegan. Perhaps the best answer would be to pose a question to you:
If you were to live as a child in a primitive society and you were raised well and had a good life, and then you were slaughtered without unnecessary torture for a religious ceremony which included cannibalism (eating your flesh), would you have a problem with that?
I give this as an example to show you that being a vegan means respecting all sentient beings. There are plenty of healthy and/or good substitutions to the eating of flesh or eggs, the drinking of other animals' milk, and the utilization of their dead bodies' byproducts.
I hope this helps you understand. Thanks for the question.

It's not only vegans who don't eat meat - vegetarians don't eat meat either. I wouldn't eat it anyway - it shouldn't have been killed, and by not eating meat, people are saving lives. Animals shouldn't be killed before their time - people don't kill humans and eat them, saying that the human had a good life so it didn't suffer. It's wrong and immoral.

Im not a vegan. But the animals still being killed so I dont think it would be the right choice. The question shouldve been if someone would eat the animal if it died naturally.

I wouldn't because I am a vegan for spiritual reasons. I believe all animals have souls and therefor not meant to be eaten.
P.S. Any animal killed, regardless of the circumstances will suffer.

I wouldn't think it was immoral, but I wouldn't eat it.
I have a friend who calls herself a vegan, but will eat meat from her parents farm.

um, for me personally, "no."
i'd still be killing an animal, which would the first thing, and second, meat actually breaks down your bones and internal organs--it's really hard to digest.
so no.
