I cough almost constantly and always coughing up mucus. Some times its yellow or green, but mostly bubbly clear and has (looks like very small pieces of lung in it.) I'm scared that I am slowly dying. I'm tired all the time. Most of the time all I want to do is lay. My appitite is very poor, I seldom get hungry. I have lost weight and now only weigh 90 pounds. A little over a year ago I weighed 135. Insurance company's turn me down because of preexisting, copd, RH, Hodgekins, I don't know what to do. I can't afford $800 month insurance. I get friends to get prescriptions for albuterol and combivent. I started taking pills (hydrocodone) as they help me so I can breathe normal so I can work. I can get insurance through my new job in 90 days.

I have COPD. I am on long term disability with my company that I worked for. I could not afford cobra at $490.00 per month.

As our first friend answered you, great country we live in. I do not qualify for any aid. I cannot get Medicare for two years. I have tried every insurance company there is and they won't cover me. I make too much for any kind of state aid. I went to the company that makes one of my inhalers for help. They said they would give me a discount of $30.00 on an inhaler that costs $348.00 per month. BIG DEAL.
There is no way I will ever be able to work again. I can hardly get out of bed. I got a bill from the oxygen company yesterday for $542.00 That is for ONE month. My meds cost more than I make in one month.

THE POINT to this sad, disgusting sennario is the U.S.A. is not so great. We can help people that do not want help and would blow our heads off, given the chance, but we cannot help Americans that can't help themselves. People like you and I that have no resources and we are not millionaires.

I am getting my drugs out of Canada because I have no choice. It's that or die. I don't know what I'll do about my oxygen. I refuse to lose my house and everything I have worked for all my life because our wonderful country does not offer help to their own people. Why don't people like Angelina Jolie help here first? I know, children are raped and whatever in Africa. Well, guess what? They are in America too.................

Good Luck to you, I hope you can get some help.........God Bless......

Have you thought about going on disability and receiving Medicaid benefits? Are you or any one in your family a veteran?
You really need to see a Doctor. Many doctors have samples and will give them to you. My husband has severe copd and is on oxygen 24/7 Please don't wait there are many programs out there to help you just need to know where to look. Sounds like you really need to be monitored by a doctor

If in fact you do have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, then your insurance company should pay for you to have a breathing machine. My mother has COPD and Emphysema. Since you can't get insurance for another 90 days, sign up for Medicaid. If you qualify for Medicaid Spend-down, then it will go back for 90 days.

Call the companies that produce you COPD meds, (I don't know if they will help with the Lortab) they may be able to assist you at least until you get your insurance. Many drug companies have prescription assistance programs, if you qualify... Good luck

My heart goes out to you. You really need to see a doctor. Are there any clinics in your area that take people that don't have insurance? Have you looked into getting state-funded medical aid?
Have a friend write a letter to a local radio & tv station about your story. Maybe they'll do a fund-raiser for you or something like that. It can't hurt to try. Good luck & God Bless

How old are you? There may be programs that will help, depending on your age and the State you live in.

Also, with the "bubbly" mucus you are coughing up, sounds like maybe a little pulmonary edema or CHF...you really need to see a doctor. Again, not knowing where you live makes it hard to recommend a place, but ERs HAVE to treat you and they will bill you, you can then pay it off little by little.

uh-oh... let me guess, this sounds like emphysema.

are you currently living alone? any family? because if you are living alone and don't have a stable income, you can get discounts in hospitals (depending on your income). don't hesitate to go the hospital if you need to, once you're there, let them know that you are not really financially stable -- and they will help you through it. there are a lot of foundations out there that help people with no stable job but have been diagnosed with a serious medical problem. like my mom for instance, she only works as a housekeeper but when they found a lump in her breast, she told them that she doesn't have the money to pay for surgery. so the hospital forwarded her case to the american breast cancer foundation and paid for everything (well MOST of it) -- i think the only amount she needed to cough up was about $300 to pay the surgeon for and buy medicines -- which is cheap! i know some doctors are bloodsuckers, but there are good doctors out there too who give big discounts to people who can't afford medical attention. (some of them actually do it for free). so don't feel so down, try to do some research on what foundations will help you financially. what the hell are they raising money for if they're not gonna help people, right? if you need medical attention -- seek help.

try to go to a government hospital instead of a private one... that's where usually those foundations sponsor that program. sometimes they also note on the prescription that you are financially challenged, so they give big discounts on medications. and also i suggest you have yourself checked up so that they can teach you how to help yourself and maintain your condition. of course, expect insurance companies to turn you down because of your existing conditions.

See.. that is what is wrong with America.

The poor always get ****** over.

If America was the best country on earth a while ago, it certainly went downhill fast.

I myself have eye disease, but cannot be treated due to being "limited"

I wish you well.
