I know there are foods and juices to avoid when little ones are having problems with diarrhea. Is there anything to eat or drink to help get rid of it quicker?

2 cents...first of all, I do know when to call the doctor but thanks for your input. There is just a bug going around now and I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions that I had not thought of yet to get rid of everything sooner.

Definitely NO MILK. Stay away from any artificially sweetened juice. Try pedialyte, pedialyte popsicles, water for hydration. They used to recommend the BRAT diet - bananas (help with potassiun deletion, too), rice (to help bind things up -white rice is easy to digest), applesauce, and toast (no butter) Wait til at least two days with NO diarrhea before starting to SLOWLY reintroduce foods. Sometimes, with all the inflammation that diarrhea causes in the GI tract, the reintroduction of a lot of fat or a lot of different food at one time can be overwhelming.

FIRST of all, you should be asking your pediatrician this type of question.

A child that young can dehydrate SO easily, which can lead to verrrry bad things even death.

Try some of these foods from the BRAT diet:
-bananas
-rice
-apples
-toast

These are all foods with a lot of FIBER. This works for anyone.

**Make sure you also keep the child hydrated with fluids!
-no soda
-no juice
+water
+Pedialite (drinks, and frozen treats)

Any time a child has diarrhea for more than 2 days, you should call the Doctor!

It's called the BRAT diet. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. That helps bring things together again inside. Also yogurt is supposed to help. Try to avoid the really sugary yogurts though.

The BRAT diet is a great idea to keep them with bland foods, that are popular among toddlers anyway.

And pedialyte is also an excellent decision... it now comes in all kinds of forms, such as popsicles and drinks.

I agree with the BRAT diet, also stay away from milk and cheese products and Pedia-lyte is good to make sure they are getting the fluids they need

Pedia-Lyte is a great source of electrolytes for your little one. Gatorade is also a good choice. Try giving you child a source of fiber, usually when diarrhea is occuring that is when they are low of fiber and electrolytes. Good Luck!

Bananas, potato, toasted dry bread (starchy stuff) all help . Drinking lots of water and use pedia lite if he/she is really dehydrated or to prevent it.
