because God said, "let there be a disgusting purple thing that grows on vines and is eaten by few"....and the egg plant was created and God saw that it was good. To answer your question...I don't know why it's called an egg PANT.

I've asked myself that question alot. Truth is...I have no clue. Why do people drive in a parkway and park in a driveway? It's just one of those weird american things. Hey, soccer should be called football cause..duh you use your feet. Eggs arent in eggplants, and its not a plant!!! I dont get it either...I'm with you.

The original eggplant fruit was white and oval..hence the name egg-plant.
