Even with it running in your family it doesn't mean that you're going to get it. Especially if you live a healthy and active life.

Most likely you might get it, it seem that is something that runs in the family. Probably you might not. My mom also has diabetes, I don't have it, but some of my sisters does. So you just look up to your blood sugar once a year and take care of yourself.

But mean while, live the good life and don't worry about that, worse thing can happen. Think those that have cancer , brain tumors and have no choice, at list diabetes you can still live if you take care of yourself.

Diabetes definately has a genetic predisposition, but that doesn't garauntee you to get it. Type II is linked to obesity, and is caused by the fat cells becoming stretched out so that insulin does not fit the shape of the receptor. I would suggest getting tested at least once a year, and to watch your weight. Exercise and diet play a large part in whether you get it or not, even if you have bad genes.

That canot be answered. While both parents having diabetes does put you at a higher risk, it depends on your health, your weight, and your genes. Diabetes isn't only a genetic disease. Most people who aquire diabetes later in life did so by eating the wrong foods and not taking care of themselves. Just take care of yourself and at least that will eliminate one risk factor. It does tend to run in families, but that doesnt automatically mean you will get it. Relax...its fine.

Diabetes (especially type 2) is NOT just genetic. It has a TON to do with both diet and exercise. The best thing you can do is maintain your weight with a healthy diet, and get plenty of exercise, especially cardio.

Change your eating habits. Sounds like you are genetically predisposed to getting diabetes, but you don't have to actually develop the disease. It is not a death sentence. Just make sure that you try to eat right and include excercise in your lifesyle.

Your risks of developing it are certainly high, but you can put it off or even prevent it with good diet and exercise. Eat "good" carbs and stay active.

I would recommend getting your blood sugar tested on a regular basis and make sure all your health care providers know about your family's history.

I like you because you used the word "diabeted". That's so funny and original.

You can try to avoid diabetes by exercising and eating well. If you do get it, it can be very well-controlled.
Don't worry.

Just because it IS hereditary, only means that you are more susceptible to it, in this case. You CAN avoid it if you are aware of the fact that you are susceptible. Consult your doctor but eating right and exercising will definitely benefit you, plus perhaps avoid the (not necessarily) inevitable.
